This is the problem. I'm not some great, awesome league player, but I understand that the one thing I can control, is not making a problem exponentially worse, by trying to overplay my hand knowing my lane is lost or I'm behind.

I can understand dying once or twice and MAYBE even 3 times because you're getting dove or whatever. But when you're dying 4+ times in the first 10 minutes, that's a "you" problem.

eh, if you are playing against a vayne, or twitch for the first time, with their ability to get on you without you even knowing it... it can happen

Well sure. But I feel like a lot of people die 2-3 times early, and walk back to lane and play like it's still even.

I would think everyone would understand you have to approach it more passively considering the gold lead (and thusly the item lead) someone has over you.

We all die a lot in some games, but I feel like some people don't react properly or understand that you can't play a lane that you are severely behind in like you would if you were even.

there's just too many opportunities to come back later, especially in our elo, that playing overly safe after dying several times early is seemingly the most long term beneficial option. IMO anyways.

ETA: This obviously doesn't apply to getting 4-5 man dove under tower consistently. At that point you can only hope your teammates are punishing those types of ganks/dives by trading objectives for your death(s).

What are some other sustain junglers similar to Xin Zhao?

I know WW and probably Zac.

I've played WW before and while the sustain is good, he just doesn't seem versatile. I've never played Zac.

I used to play her a bit. Does she get life-steal in her abilities?

no, she gets a shield from her passive, and is hyper aggressive like xin should be

Nope. Sorry. Had other things going on. Will most likely play some tonight. Most looking forward to 1-2 ranked to get my promo. May even be able to skip a level with this undefeated streak.

We should have went 3-0 last night too. Bob was fed big time but we never took advantage of it.

Yeah, I was surprised he didn't have more of an impact later in the game.

It really is a legit Top/Mid/Jungle carry meta.
With TP and global ults being such a big part of the game now, it's hard to really accomplish a lot from the Bot lane.

That's the only thing that I worry about when playing top. I usually take tanks or AFK split pushers.... and I really think I need to transition more to Huni/Darshan mode and play some Fiora/Irelia/Gangplank/Jax.

I'd really like to develop a small but well-rounded pool of champions.

Top (tank) - Malphite, Mundo, --- learn Maokai
Top (carry) - Jax -- learn Irelia, Gangplank, Renekton, Akali

Mid (carry) - Ahri -- learn Azir?, Leblanc?, ???
Mid (utility) - Ori -- improve Ziggs, learn ???

Jungle (farm) - Shyvana -- improve Jax, Yi, and learn ??
Jungle (team) - Rammus -- improve Vi, Xin, and learn ??

Any suggestions?

I feel like unless you are a mechanical God, you only really need to learn 1-2 champions per lane to be successful.

You see it all the time with these one trick pony players who make plat/diamond, but can't do shite with other champs (which is fine, if your ultimate goal is your ranking).

I think it all depends on what you want. I typically spam new champions for a while if I like them, but then switch because I get bored playing the same thing over and over.

I'll likely not climb very high doing this, but I find it more fun than playing only one role or only 1-2 champs.

Lucky for me. I've got this.

No. I mean I just seriously would like 2-3 options per team role. Top needs to be able to tank/carry depending on team comp in SoloQ. Same for Mid/Jungle.
Sometimes you need a tank buster ADC or just a wave clear/supportive ADC.

I want to be able to fill out a team comp and play different roles than to be a one trick champ or role. To me, it's more fun that way.

Here. Let me show you what I'm asking. Help me pick/ work through the logic on which ones deserve most of my time to learn. Maybe we can make a chart for other people to use for team comp development.

quote:

Top (tank) - Malphite, Mundo, --- learn Maokai
Yes. All 3. Each has a specific team fighting purpose. Malphite is hard engage. Mundo is kiting/poking tank. Maokai is hard cc/peel.
quote:

Top (carry) - Jax -- learn Irelia, Gangplank, Renekton, Akali
Jax is great for split pushing, Renekton can really snowball an early game, Irelia/Akali are good for assassinating, and Gangplank is huge late game teamfighting. So, go Jax/Irelia/Gangplank.
quote:

Mid (carry) - Ahri -- learn Azir?, Leblanc?, ???
Ahri/Leblanc serve the same purpose, choose one. Azir is hard to play. So, go with Viktor instead.
quote:

Mid (utility) - Ori -- improve Ziggs, learn ???
Ori is fine. Zigg's skill shots are too hard. Go with Karma instead.
quote:

Jungle (farm) - Shyvana -- improve Jax, Yi, and learn ??
Jungle (team) - Rammus -- improve Vi, Xin, and learn ??
Just learn Reksai & Gragas already.

I find Azir is easier than Viktor, that may just be preference though.

I like Ziggs over Karma mid. Everything is AOE (damage, displace, slow). Plus his "E" now instantly destroys towers at 20% or 25% (can't remember). His ult allows you to have an affect on other lanes during laning phase without having to actually be in either of the side lanes.

To be fair, I don't play Karma, ever, but while I understand she brings some utility, I just think Ziggs brings more team fight/aoe damage.

ETA: Also allows for fantastic wave clear when defending towers, and great for siege on enemy towers and zoning people out from objectives with "E" and "W".

I would also recommend adding Tryndamere to your split push pool. Heavy crit with the "Q" passive, sustain with "Q" active, reliable escape with "E", single target slow with "W", and survivability with his ult, which you can also use to effectively dive someone under tower with your jungler.

Plus it's universally understood that 99% of the time you won't be in team fights, so people typically play a little more safe to let you push.

Dude. Matchmaking is so stupid.

Gold 5, Silver 1, Silver 2, and 2 Silver 4's.
Versus My team:
Bronze 1, Silver 5, Silver 3, and 2 Silver 2's.

How is this even fair?

I wish they'd just bring back regular solo Q so you don't have to rely on the matchmaking system to "think" it's arranging teams fairly.
