My son's first birthday was this week.
We're a month behind you. Wife is in full prep mode.

When he was one month old, he was diagnosed with Lambdoid Craniosynostosis, which is simply a fancy term for one part of the skull fusing prematurely, which can inhibit brain growth and/or severely deform the skull permanently unless it's corrected. Those segments of skull aren't supposed to fuse until around 18 months or so.
Here's a CT scan prior to surgery
That's a view of the back of his head. You can see the skull is segmented as it should be, except for the rear right suture.
So when he was about 3 months old, he had surgery to cut the fused part of the the skull. Part of the after-care is that he has to wear that helmet essentially 24-7 for 12 months, with monthly measurements and adjustments to slowly round out his head. Helmet should be gone end of August.

Wow. Prayers to you guys. I know that must not be an easy thing to go through. The little guy looks like he's doing well. Hope everything continues to go well for you guys

Oh yeah, he's fine. Can't even see the scar anymore because of all the hair. And his head is now symmetrical and rounded, so the helmet is just maintaining that for another few months. Worst part is it's getting hotter, so he basically can't be outside with the helmet on because it'll make him sweat and cause rashes.

Well at least he'll be getting it off just in time for football season

1 year happy birthday. On the lines of the topic, we go in tomorrow morning for our follow up procedure. We can't wait to get this behind us.

How is she doing? What's the follow-up procedure?
Posted on 4/19/15 at 12:49 pm to ILikeLSUToo
Same one as before. She still has a partial blockage so they need to open it up some more now that she is bigger.

Thinking of building a new desktop soon but wondering a few things.
I haven't been paying attention but what is Intel putting out this year? Will it be worth waiting for over a 4790K?

We thought we were going to have to go through the same ordeal with our boy. He had settled head down on my wife's pelvis a few months before he was born, and he had a big flat spot on the corner of his head and we were worried about that condition. Doctor checked and they hadn't fused yet, so we went to a chiropractor one a month for a while and he would get his head shaped by hand. He still has a bit of a flat spot, but it's in the back now and we discovered that my FIL's head is shaped the same way. So I guess we're fine

The doctor referred you to the chiropractor?
Posted on 4/22/15 at 4:56 pm to Mr Gardoki
Not a straight up "straighten your back" chiro. Specialized for infants, I'm assuming. I never got to go.
Posted on 4/22/15 at 5:00 pm to sicboy
Ha I didn't assume he was the same one trying to fix it with herbs

Well, here's some rumors from the past couple of days about Skylake: LINK
No idea how valid the chip rumors are, but it's pretty close to confirmed that Socket 1151 and the Skylake chipset will bring DDR4 support, and maybe PCIe 4.0.
Not sure how long it's worth waiting for, though. No word on release date. Could be in June, or end of the year. The possible coinciding Broadwell K release is confusing. Broadwell K might be skipped completely.

Guess I will just roll with my HTPC and 3770K a little longer. There is little reason to upgrade from it right now considering the cost to do so.
Maybe I will just sell my 290 and get a Titan X
