Also, aren't FM2 ITX boards cheaper than 1155? That's not to mention the 750K is $40-$50 cheaper as well.
they are chearper the bord for intel is 140ish and the cpu is 130. Amd board and cpu are both 85 a piece.

The i3 pretty much dominates it in games. The i3 is equal to the 81xx series in gaming
Edit: the 3220 is $115 and you can get an itx mobo for as low as $49.99

Lol what is going on in here? So confused with these different sockets being mentioned along with a dedicated GPU.

At what word count will I have reached the threshold of "TL/DR" in this PC guide?
7,000 words and counting.
7,000 words and counting.

It does post a higher physics score in 3DMark11 but Passmark has the 750K ahead overall. The i3 also loses to the 750K in multi threaded applications, which is to be expected, so if he is doing more than just gaming with it that is something to consider.

i will say this, gaming is first, when it comes to it, but mainly maneuverability over all. That is why i am looking into ITX. Truthfully at this point i have my Macbook for any business type computer stuff, these PCs are for pure fun! lol

Then go with what will post the higher scores. I would just have a hard time buying a dual core chip hyper-threaded or not.

That really depends on the person. I am willing to do a lot of research before I buy things.

I second that.
I'm doing a home server over haul inside a Fractal Nodwe 304. I haven't purchased the chip and mobo yet but I have decided to not go with Dual Core HT i3. Hard to justify buying 2 physical cores over 4 physical cores.. even if with HT.

Alright guys I have a friend that needs a computer. He needs to be able to run 3d modeling programs, photoshop, and possibly some other programs of that nature. He would rather a laptop for it to be mobile but that is not needed. I don't know yet if he is willing to build or not. He asked if a mac would be a good idea and i told him no because he wants to keep his price around $800. Also he does not game at all.
Knowing these facts, what specs should i be looking at? system memory is important for this correct? above 8gb? Does an ssd help performance with that? How important is the video card for this and how much vram?

He's going to spend more than 800 for a laptop that's serviceable for 3d modeling. I would imagine anyway
