Got to hang with BB King few times. Once in Baton Rouge, I was interviewing him backstage after the show. Me and my buddy went into the dressing room and it was just us and BB, and all of a sudden Boogaloo his trumpet player came into the room with two women....we got to see BB lay his pimp lines down on the women for about 20 min...was pretty awesome.
Got to hang with Ben Harper after a show in San Antonio for a little while. Cool dude.
Hung out with Steve Cropper once, really awesome guy and has tons of stories. Donald Duck Dunn was an arse.
Got to meet and interview Buddy Guy at his family reunion in Baton Rouge one time. Raful Neal and Buddy's brother got me in. Buddy is one cool cat!

Living in Nashville I've got a bunch, my fave is hangin w/Levon for a few days but the one my pals from home consider the gold medal is tokin er up with Willie.

I drank beers with Jimmy Page. This was in the early 80's when he was in the Firm. They were playing in New Orleans @ The UNO Lakefront Arena.
I worked in a record store at the time at we found out that Page would be in the Quarter the Night before the show.
A buddy and I went to the Quarter looking for him. (fat chance of finding him I know).
Well we had given up hope of seeing him and we were walking back to the car, when we passed some hole-in-the wall bar on some side street. as we passed by the entrance, we both glanced in, and I'll be damned if there wasn't this tall lanky guy, dressed in all white with a scarf around his neck, leaning on the bar. We both froze and looked at each other, like "that's HIM"!
We went in and were able to talk to him for about an hour or so. It was really hard to understand him. He was trashed. Couple that with a heavy British accent, and the music in the bar, it was tough.
The coolest thing was when he went off for a bit,(we're thinking he ditched us) then comes back bringing us beers!!!!!!!!! Freaking Jimmy Page bought me beers! Then some Rod Stewart song was playing in the bar, and this guitar part was playing when he made that "Jimmy Page Guitar God Face" that he makes.
That was a pretty cool night.

My job has afforded some pretty cool conversations.
Spoke with Brett Tuggle of Fleetwood Mac a few times.
Raekwon of Wu Tang Clan called me one day.
Talked to Steve Morse of Deep Purple once.
George Porter Jr came and hung out at my office for a day. I'm a huge Meters fan too!
I talk to Randy Jackson of Zebra about once a month. He came by the office a few weeks ago.
Coolest is probably talking with Al Kooper (Blood Sweat & Tears founder). He also played organ on The Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get WHat You Want and Bob Dylan's - LIke A Rolling Stone. In addition, he discovered Lynyrd Skynyrd and produced their first 3 albums.
We talked about his dog among other things. Really nice guy!

Back during my radio days, The station had a remote set up by the river in Alexandria for the festival they held there. Got to interview and BS with Linda Davis, who was just starting out, before that huge duet with Reba. Very cute, very sweet, very friendly, so much so that she invited my partner and me to fly back to Nashville with them. He had tickets to a Saints game next day, and I had to sub for him, so we both had to decline. The funniest part was her manager tugging her sleeve and trying to stop her from inviting us...'Uh, Linda?..We gotta get going....Linda....'

Went to see The Mighty Mighty Bosstones at the Howling Wolf back around '96. It wasn't a normal show (tickets very limited.) It coincided with a record industry convention in NOLA and you had to have a pass to get in, not a ticket. Alas, my friends and I were "pass less" and it looked like we were going to strike out getting in.
We ended up going behind the club where we could at least hear the show. Sat there drinking for a few when all of a sudden a door opened and a raspy voiced Dickey Barret said "Hey kids, get over here."
He snuck us all in backstage. Hung out for a few. Guy was cool as hell. It was pretty surreal. The Cardigans were actually having a photo shoot back there at the same time. After a few he walked us to a door, said make two rights and act like you own the place. Saw a great free show.

A large group of friends I was with got to shoot the shite with Kevin Fowler before a show. Not that he's Oprah or anything, but he was more nice than I would've been getting hounded by a bunch of drunk 21 year old dudes.

Okay, okay...I've taken shots with Gary Clark, Jr. and watched Jason Mraz pee on a truck after he tried to walk 4 blocks with his hand on my butt. That last one wasn't that cool but it was certainly memorable.
I also almost set my friend's car on fire drinking whiskey and shooting off roman candles with the Turnpike Troubadours at a venue after a show.
