OCMS came to my buddies fishing camp and they drank and played all night even going playing like 6 talking heads songs. One of the funnest nights of my life.

My father has some of the best I have ever heard. Emmylou Harris played at his bar and it was so packed that my dad had to pick her up and hand her out of the window to Emmylou's manager. I always called BS on that story but she references it in her Live at the Ryman album

I moved a barstool out of Jonathan Richman's way so he could walk through the crowd (of 8 people)

He shot me a "cool move, dude" look

I've hung out with dredg, Fair to Midland, Scale the Summit, and Judgement Day. All are cool guys, but Drew and Dino from dredg always makes it a point to catch up when I see them. Drew actually credited me and one of my friends with them deciding to book a Baton Rouge show. :csb:

Anyway, we drove to Shreveport to see them while they were finishing up The Pariah, The Parrot, the Delusion. Well, we ran into Drew outside the venue and started talking. He found out that a friend of ours was also putting out an album and he wanted to hear it. After listening to the entire album in my car, he ran inside, got his iPod and played 4 or 5 unfinished tracks from TPTPTD. We were the first "fans" that got to hear any of the studio work from that album. Needless to say, I gloated quite a bit on the dredg forums.

Most people have no clue how easy it is to meet musicians passing through town. College was fun.

One that really stands out is Doug Martsch from Built To Spill at the Spanish Moon last year. The show was amazing and I was really thinking about going to the show the next night in New Orleans (only after seeing that one though). Doug was sitting on the stage talking to people after the show and I asked if there were any more tickets available for New Orleans (Apparently it was sold the F out too)...he said, "I don't know, but give me your name and I'll put you on the list". Very cool

Myself and two friends got to hang out with the Black Keys backstage at the New Daisy Theatre in Memphis. We just went backstage and no one ever said anything. Told us they actually got signed at Proud Larry's in Oxford. Cool guys

That's awesome. I got smashed with Kevin Fowler one night after he opened for Charlie Robison. Lots of makers and party favors. Good times..

I have to add another:

Blind Melon's acoustic CD release show at Wherehouse Music a few years ago. They're not the same without Shannon, but when Travis set down the mic and the entire crowd sang Change along with the band, there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd.

Hung out with JJ Grey and his drummer for about 30 min after a show a few years ago. We just talked and shot the shite. We were going back to a late night and they said they were in, just needed to finish up some things and the drummer had to get good and stoned. Next thing I know, I'm waking up in a hotel room with a few randoms, still not sure what happened.

Kenny Chesney an entourage came in the Rayville Waffle House one night about 3am. We were too drunk to call him names.

Went backstage at a Janes Addiction show back in the day. Perry Farrell was urinating on a young female fan in front of about 30 people. Weird scene. Lots of drugs. I got out pretty quickly.
