Thinking about giving this place a shot today.. I've been to most Vietnamese places aside from the West Bank/NOLA East, and Pho Noi Viet is one that I haven't tried yet (I know it's relatively new).

Out of all the places I've been, I'd have to say in a loose order, I've enjoyed Lily's, Pho Orchid, Kim Ahn, Magasin, and Jazmine.

1) How does this place stack up against the non-West Bank/NOLA East places?
2) Any recommendations?

TIA

I give it two thumbs down. Just hop on the bridge and go to Tan Dinh.

This is like saying, I've had most of the Pizza in Europe, aside from Italy.

I've been told to avoid Pho Noi Viet, quite a few mediocre to bad reviews. Lily's is about 50 yards away.

I've noticed that. Lily's is probably my favorite Vietnamese place that I've tried (although, I've never made the trek to the West Bank, like I said).

Another day, when I've got more time to kill, I'll definitely have to see what all the fuss about Tan Dinh is about.

Lily's is damn good and IMO the best uptown. I mainly get pho and have had it at just about every place in town. If you want to try some place new to you check out the place on St.Charles. The name slips my mind, but I'm sure somebody here knows it. I've only been once but looking to try it again.

La Viet Cafe?

I rarely get Pho so I can't compare, I like Magasin, Lily's Uptown wise.

I'm a Pho guy, myself, but Magasin has the best sandwiches of any place I've tried.

A new place is opening on Metairie Road called Rolls and Bowls. In that stretch of businesses just across the railroad tracks.

There was a write up in gambit (i think) about the place not too long ago. Made me really want to try the pastries there.

Doing well. Vicodin, beer and the US getting a point in Mexico City will do that to me.

This. No reason whatsoever to eat at PNV unless Lilly's is under siege Olympus Has Fallen style.

Or Under Siege style.

Also, Tan Dihn's sister restaurant should be opening soon. Last I heard was the end of march. They are going to be on Maple Street with a slightly pared down menu. Haven't heard anything recently about it though.

Ba Chi Canteen is the name I believe.

Don't know if I'd trust a Vietnamese place with Thai food
