Please watch Remington's response video. They took the rifle that shot the boy through the trailer and it had an insane amount of rust on the trigger mechanism and caused it to fail. Again, this is poor maintenance by the user. Any "dangerous" thing needs the proper care and respect it deserves.

Regardless, don't pull a lib move and tell me I don't care about the death of the boy because I disagree with the family. I feel pity on the family, but ultimately, it is not the fault of the rifle. The incident resulted from poor maintenance.

DING DING DING DING DING

We have a winner!

It's like someone playing with their suspension on their pickup then taking a turn like you're in a Ferrari and eating an oak tree. DAMN YOU CHEVROLET!!

If you don't know what you're doing with an object that can KILL YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE, don't do it.

Sorry. MSNBC hit job was bull shite for the masses that don't know what the frick they're talking about so they could damage Remington. Just that simple.

Yes, the guy said that trigger could be made idiot proof. Why would you though when it's not actually a problem till an idiot decides he's a trained armorer or just completely neglects his responsibility with the gun to clean it correctly.

That said, I am glad they went to the new trigger because that thing is TITS.

I think it was tasteless of NBC to go to the home of Mr. Walker and try to talk to him about his patented design. They were basically trying to pin the child's murder on him.

That is some seriously fricked up shite.

It didn't surprise me at all. That's what you can expect from the most biased editorial leftist 'news' channel on American TV.

They're ghouls. Hitler's boner would have exploded at the mere thought of that kind of propaganda power.

re: Remington 700 misfire issues

I watched that thing and I was just infuriated through the whole thing because I know better and it was obvious what a hack hit job it was from the beginning. I've been around that rifle and focused on that rifle and shot that rifle in many forms for most of my 46 years on this planet. I have NEVER in untold thousands of rounds fired by me and those with me and those that I know, ever even heard of an accidental discharge with one. Not even once. It just does not happen if you have even the slightest clue what you are doing. And that includes bench rest rifles that if you even think you feel the trigger, they go off. Granted those are mostly aftermarket but you get the point.

It was such an obvious case of yellow journalism it just blew my mind. And the fact that there are so many people that actually bought it, people who even frequent this board and should know better... just makes you realize how powerful the media actually is.

Terrifying.

As far as you thought about companies doing shite that they knew would kill people, it happens everyday, and I see it all the time, and none of them are ever ruined...... despite my best efforts.

If its your best effort to ruin one of the best rifle makers out there I suggest that you take your sorry arse elsewhere. The remington 700 action has set the standard for accuracy and reliability since its inception. You find them in just about every competition, police and military force on the planet. If the rifle wasnt good do you honestly think for one second that it would be as popular as it is? The level of ignorance displayed by some posters here is astounding, that you could be taken in by one hit piece on a notoriously liberal network, known for its pro guncontrol stance belies a fatal error in your operating system. Let me ask you a question, did you try to ruin, ford, toyota and chevrolet? Because they too have had product failures that cost lives.

When they have had safety defects, yes, the media has held their feet to the fire. Toyota acceleration problems ring any bells?

Reading this from an unbiased perspective, there seems to be some fanboying going on. If you admit that they greatly improved the trigger mechanism, then there must have been flaws in the old design. Why is it only 700s? Your Remington is not the perfect rifle.

re: Remington 700 misfire issues

I had the same thing happen to me this year, not the fire on a second trigger pull because I ejected the bullet an there was a tiny mark on the primer. I figured it was the firing pin but my gunsmith said the lock on the bolt was partially locked. You know the c shaped keyhole on the back of the bolt. I had never locked or even fooled with it at all. He said with a partial locking it could allow the trigger to be pulled but with not enough gusto to shoot the round. Maybe it's that??

I have a Tundra and researched this before I bought. As far as I saw all the accidents were caused by aftermarket floor mats that the accelerator got stuck under.

Could be. The first trigger pull was like the trigger was welded down. No soft fire. I will have someone who knows what they are doing mess with it.

Or advances in technology that have allowed better triggers to be made. The old trigger was state of the art in its day.

Ive never shot a rifle I like more than the 700 i have. That being said, after it cost me 2 deer last year im not sure I can bring it with me again. Mainly in part that the gunsmith never identified the problem, only replaced parts.

I love my rifle. The last few years I have only taken it out in August or September and put 2-3 rounds through it to check my zero. The last 2 years I have taken exactly 2 shots each year with it that were not at a deer. Both times my holes were touching about 3/4 of an inch above the dot. Even if I never feel confident bringing it in the woods again, it is the only gun my old man ever bought me, so it ain't going anywhere.

Remington 700 misfire issues quote: remington problems.... wouldnt know nothing about em.. savage shoots every time Neither would I and I promise you I've shot more out of 700's in the last three decades than you probably ever will with a Savage. And I can also promise you, that you will NEVER get a savage to anywhere near the level of accuracy you can get a 700. Enjoy your Savage though. Didn't they used to be labeled 'Sears'? lol

could we set this up?? for realz!! whats the wager? i will guarantee you my savages will outshoot th 700 every day of the week. 700 is most overrated gun on the market. had one and sold it fast, and wouldnt touch another one of that junk
