Nice restaurants:

Char
Table 100
Mint
Parlor Market

Sports bars:

The Bulldog is about the only one I've been to bc it's close.

Good atmosphere:

Sal and Mookies(pizza and beer)
Babalu's(tacos and tapas)

Walker's Drive In has a good fine dining rep.

Edit: Coater says below that it's fallen off. Maybe it'll get it's act together .

Local 463 (Madison), shapley's (ridgeland), Ely's (ridgeland) are probably the best and similar in style.
Parlor market (downtown) has great atmosphere, drinks, and small plates. Their entrees are hit or miss IMO.
I used to love walker's (fondren) but the last 3 times I went the service was bad and food was just ok.
Char probably has a better lunch than dinner.
As far as more casual places Babalu is really good. It is tapas style.
Hal and mals (downtown) is a fun bar like someone else mentioned. Underground 119 (downtown) is really good too. There's a Buffalo Wild Wings in ridgeland if you are looking for a true sports bar.

You should be able to pull up most of these places on the Internet to get an idea of menu, etc.

They just opened a Georgia Blue in Flowood. I went the other day for lunch and it was really good. They have another one in Madison, too.

The one in Madison is pretty close. It's good for a burger or poboy. Beers are decent. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there though.

Burgers and Blues can be a decent place to drink beer and watch games.

That's a great suggestion. Large outdoor deck if the weather is nice.

Nick's (Fondren) has a great brunch on the weekends if you're going to be around then
