So i've had a lot of down time lately and was looking to start up a final fantasy game that i have yet to beat, or lost odyssey. I own 7-13 and the only ones i have not completed are 9, 12, and 13 as well as lost odyssey. I think im over 9, i have tried to start it back up at least 4-5 times and just get bored with it by the 2nd disk. I really wanted to either go with 13 or lost odyssey but the problem is i have lost the strategy guides for both.

So this leaves me with 12. I have only started up 12 once when it first came out in 2006 and put it down shortly after because i despised the new battle system and new weapons system, however the story was pretty intriguing. So my question is have any of you completed 12? and should i give it another shot? or should i just say frick it and get a strategy guide for 13 or LO off of amazon?

TIA

A guy called HassanAlHajry on youtube has a video walkthrough of 13

13 won't take as much time either.

12 could take you 80 hours +

I think 12 is pretty awesome. I spent a ton of time on it leveling up my characters but couldn't beat the last boss. I dominated everyone up to him though. The monster hunting side missions are fun.

I initially hated the battle system of FF 12 too, but it grew on me after a few hours and I didn't seem to notice it much after that. My major gripe about that game is that I didn't find any of the characters very interesting. Although the political drama & story going on throughout the game wasn't bad, it seemed to drag on towards the end because I had no interest in any of the main characters. I did like the licensing board once I got the hang of it, but not as much as the sphere grid from FF10. I think the game is worth a play through, but if you end up with the same opinion as me, you won't ever feel the desire to go through it again (whereas I played FF7 and FF10 multiple times). Just my opinion too...

I unfortunately never played Lost Odyssey. It's one of the games that i really wanted to play, but that I kept putting off. Eventually my 360 RRoD on me and I never fixed it or bought another, so I missed out on LO. I have heard pretty good things about it though and a lot of JRPG fans consider it to be one of the best RPGs available for the 360.

as the poster said before 12's battle system grows on you once you level up some. 12's characters are ok just my gripe with it is its main character really has no point of being the main character (vaan). It's story is ok but pretty straightforward. Where the game shines is all the sidequests you can do with the license board.

13 is short, its characters are some of the worst in the series, the game doesn't offer much for sidequests, you can't choose your party members you want to play as till about halfway through the game, its combat system grows old fast, and its story is not up to final fantasy standards. The one positive I will give this game is its graphics are incredible.

Sucks that you get bored with 9. That's easily my favorite if I had to choose between the games you listed.

I also hated 12's battle system. 13, on the other hand, has one of the best combat systems out of all the FFs. The story gets stupid/hard to follow at a certain point, but I still found the game to be enjoyable. 13-2 isn't that bad either, but not as good as 13 imo.

LO was pretty cliché but I found it more satisfactory than any of the recent FF. Decent story and typical JRPG feel. Uematsu soundtrack though, there are some real winners in that category.

It's been a while since I played but I didn't have many complaints of it.

I loved 12's battle system, it gets better the more you play. As you get more gambits, your options are endless. At first, yeah it's kinda lame cause you have to heal so often, but eventually it got to the point to where I didn't even have to do anything during battles.

13 is garbage.

LO really isn't too bad. It's pretty much a FFX clone.

12 was my favorite FF since 7. I thoroughly enjoyed the battle system and thought the story was pretty good as well. Like many others said, I thought 13 was garbage. First one I've played that I've still not finished.

LO to this day is still one of my favorite JRPGs.. just behind Persona 4.
