Ah, read that most all roster bonuses are either 3/1 or 6/1. Pre 6/1 cut would still accelerate the last ~$2m of that 2012 base salary he converted to a signing bonus.

According to PFF, the Niners are close to signing both Asomugha and Woodson. Dammit. ****** Niners. Quote: The NFL Network’s Akbar Gbajabiamila is reporting that the 49ers are close to adding Nnamdi Asomugha and Charles Woodson. LINK /

All of these veteran players going to SF will have to be playing for practically nothing in 2013.

49ers want a fricking superbowl so bad they are willing to get every old man the league has, all on year to year contracts reminds me of the Lakers team that had Shaq, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Kobe, Horry, Harper etc... And still lost in the finals to a young Pistons squad

The DeBartolo's must have snuck back into the organization and started circumventing the cap again.

Asomugha, Woodson in “serious discussions” with 49ers
quote:
Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, who played in Oakland with cornerbacks Nnamdi Asomugha and Charles Woodson, “reports” that the 49ers are in “serious discussions” with both men. And since those comments can’t get the league sued, they are being trumpeted by NFL Media. Players-turned-analysts often are in position to obtain important information from players who are still playing. Sometimes, that’s a good thing. Sometimes, that’s a bad thing. The problem comes from the fact that the NFL applied a very broad standard to Warren Sapp and his “Jeremy Shockey is the bounty snitch” report. He was reminded that he’s an analyst, not a reporter. But that broad, bright-line rule necessarily is being violated by Gbaja-Biamila. And there’s nothing like inconsistent workplace rules to create headaches for H.R. and legal and confusion among coworkers, at least one of whom may now be whispering into a hot mic about the “f–king you’re-an-analyst-not-a-reporter f–king angle.” The better approach would be to have the analysts funnel any potential news they may have to management, and then to let management to decide which reporter will be given the lead.
Nice Saints tie-in

Come on! I can't believe how little the info has been coming with him. Id imagine he'd be coming here for a visit next since he left San Fran without a contract

I don't think he has left. 49ers are trying to work in Nnamdi and Woodson at a discount price. I imagine its like a really intense timeshare presentation.

He hasn't left SF, he left the practice facility last night without a contract. Something was lost in translation.

I really don't understand why they aren't clearing up cap space and using some of their 14 draft picks to land Revis from the Jets. (which they still may do). Maybe they're just flirting with these CBs to drive the prices up a little more. But I doubt it.
