I have a company meeting in Nola in next month and people from up north are already asking me where to get some good gumbo when they get here. I rarely if ever eat gumbo when I'm in Nola so I come to the experts of the F & D board for suggestions. One of the nights the company dinner will be at ACME so that is one option but I'm sure there are better places.

Don't know about the best because I haven't sampled all gumbos in the FQ, but Mr. B's is very popular and I would also suggest K-Paul's.

I think Mr. Bs Gumbo Ya Ya is way over rated. I would go K Pauls over it.

K-Paul's is the best in the quarter. Mr. B's yaya is also good.

I agree that it's better than Mr. B's, though Mr. B's is very good.

Mr B's Gumbo is over rated, over hyped, too much rice, brown water. ~ 10 years ago K-Paul's was just ok. Today???? The Gumbo shop???

I don't eat restaurant gumbo.

Good Luck!

K-Pauls is as good as you will find in a restaurant and better than what you will find in most homes.

Mr Bs is good but a little over hyped.

I said Gumbo Shop was serviceable as in ok to eat.. Its not great but not bad either.

A guy starts a thread asking where to get gumbo in the Quarter. Your response is to mock the suggestions and thumb your nose at eating restaurant gumbo and you're calling someone else an a-hole?

OP, if you're going to be there during a busy time or on a weekend, make reservations early for K-Paul's. It fills up. Also, lunch is not the same as dinner. It's more deli like or it was, so be sure and look at the website menus when you're deciding when to go.

Wasn't mocking anyone's suggestions. Stating an (my) opinion from one (me) who doesn't follow the herd mentality.

Dtiger19. Maybe have a cup in several places to give your guest an overview of Gumbo in the Quarter...

Have Fun!
