Keith Olbermann was in Los Angeles on Friday being deposed for a reported $70 million lawsuit he filed against his most recent employer, Current TV, with the trial expected to begin in May. Whether the court rules in favor of Olbermann or the network, the verdict will put an official end to a one-year stint at Current that was supposed to last at least five.
But as one door closes, another has been quietly approached. At various times over the last year, Olbermann and his representatives have expressed interest in his return to the employer that made him famous: ESPN.
Olbermann’s expressions of interest included dinner at New York’s Four Seasons Restaurant with John Skipper, ESPN’s president.
“Keith Olbermann, both personally and through a couple people I know, reached out to say, ‘Gee, I would love to have dinner,’ ” Skipper said. “I agreed to dinner with Keith because I assumed he’d be provocative and witty and fun to have dinner with, and he was indeed lots of fun. We talked sports and politics, and we had a nice chat. He is very interesting.
“Clearly he was looking to see if there was an entry point to come back.”

He can't be any worse than what ESPN plays 24/7.

Please shoot me if this headline ever comes true:
"Skip Bayless,, Stephen A Smith and Keith Olberman are the new hosts of college game day"

Would be a coup for them.
I'm not certain why he doesn't try his hand at MLB Network, though.

Bring back Rush and have them host Sportscenter.

I'd take him over the rest of those pulseless talking heads in a New York minute.

Keith is a shitty political analyst, but a legendary sports anchor. Too bad he fricked up with NBC or he could got to NBCSports, though he'd run roughshod over there.
It's hard to see him partnered with anyone because he'd trump them and the best talent,SVP, isn't someone I imagine working with Olberman.
If he wanted to come back, give him a couple years on either the 6pm or 11 am Sportscenter and see if he behaves himself. Then possibly give him another outlet.

Did you ever read the espn book? Dan Patrick said Olbermann is the smartest person he's ever met. No doubt Olbermann was great at espn...he's also good enough to switch off anything irrelevant...but going back to sports center wouldn't be a good move for him and he'd shame any idiots on those afternoon shows. He'd need something new where he had creative input.

Yeah, I don't know why so many people are hating against Keith Olberking. Take the politics out of it. The guy's a great sportscaster and would be an immense improvement over most of the people who work for ESPN. Hail to the Olberking!
