Am I the only one who really likes MCW? I know he (and Syracuse for that matter) is struggling as of late, but this kid was doing a masterful job of running the Cuse offense. He is long, athletic, and a play-maker. I think he is definitely a future starting pg in the Association.

Here's another interesting stat for those of you who love PER According to Hollinger these are the top picks ranked according to PER: 1) Kelly Olynyk PER 37.09 2) CJ McCollum PER 33.79 3) Cody Zeller PER 31.19 4) Victor Oladipo PER 30.70 5) Trey Burke PER 30.27 6) Otto Porter PER 29.24 7) Anthony Bennett PER 28.48 8) Kentavious Caldwell-Pope PER 27.20 9) Nerlens Noel PER 26.74 10) Mason Plumlee PER 26.28 11) Ben McLemore PER 25.33 12) Alex Len PER 24.59 13) Marcus Smart PER 23.99 14) William Cauley-Stein PER 23.56 15) Shabazz PER 22.86 16) Michael-Carter Williams PER 22.24 17) Gary Harris PER 20.26 18) Alex Poythress PER 20.26 19) Glenn Robinson PER 19.69 there are a few others in the draft that are between a PER of 19-23 but not a whole lot obviously no one should determine how good a player is off of one stat but its interesting to see it scaled

Yeah, I'd be much more concerned with having 2 skinny guys than whether Noel will return to form after the ACL tear.

Noel is definitely stronger than Davis is. And no, not great offensively, but guys like Tyson Chandler, Ben Wallace, Kendrick Perkins have been NBA champion centers recently. Serge Ibaka for the Thunder....invaluable to the team..reminds me a lot of Noel. All these guys are key defensive cogs and rim protectors. Very important. Just think if we have 2. . quote:
Offensively, at least Davis has a 15 ft jumper to use until he gets strong enough for the post. Noel doesn't have those skills
he wouldnt need them. He blocks 5 shots a game. Couple that with Davis' shot blocking capabilities, i dont think their size matters too much

IIRC Jamal Crawford also tore his Rubio looks pretty good in his return and all reports out of Chicago are that Rose lost little to no explosiveness Is it a concern? yes... Theres always going to be risk when you draft a guy that high with a past knee issue but lets not act like his leg almost fell off, or he has no cartridge in his knees.

No McLemore on your list? Is that because you don't think he's on the board for the Pelicans, or just think the other guys would be better takes?

Fine! 1. Porter- fills instant need for SF. Could possibly even start from onset, though we'd probably bring in a cheap 3 to ease the transition. I liken him more to Rudy Gay. 2. Oladipo- insurance if we keep Gordon around. Also allows Gordon to be more expendable. Wouldn't have to trade SG for SG if we deal Gordon; allows us to fill any position. Oladipo seems like he will continue to work hard to improve. As is, he would be a good 6th man. 3. Shabazz- see Porter. Athletic wing we covet. Could possibly drop. 4. McLemore- gives us the same flexibility as Oladipo. I know many love his game, I just feel he would take more time to be NBA ready. 5. Bennett- if we go BPA, he may be a likely target. I think his game translates well into the NBA despite his 3/4 tweeted size and game. If you ask me tomorrow, I could have a different order, but these are the 5 I like. Noel is a dark horse and if he dropped to the 6-7 range we would almost have to take him

If he had those guys' bodies, i'd be all for it. The lack of offense doesn't scare me off as much as the lack of strength does. To me, the lack of strength is the only reason Davis already isn't already a 16/10 guy. He gets pushed around so much in box out situations and its really hurt his rebound numbers. He's constantly on the ground and they don't even attempt to put post him up. I think Davis will still be GREAT, but I don't know that we can cover for two guys that frail.

Got ya. My list is the same as yours then. I'm a little more leery of Noel's knee, but frick it. This isn't the 1960's. He'll be more than ready to roll next year.

if he actually played starters minutes, he'd be there. he plays 27MPG

Serge Ibaka isnt any bigger. Tyson Chandler isnt huge(weight wise). Yet people still have trouble shooting ove him Ben Wallace as 6'6" prob 240. I mean whether we are talking size (weight) or length(height), I think history has proven that if you are lacking in 1, but have an acquired skill to make up for it, you will usually be ok.

not sure i would call them frail, but whatevs. would be a great defensive front court.

David West is a skilled big that does not rely at all on athleticism. Nerlens Noel is an unskilled big who relies almost solely on athleticism.

Fair enough. Chandler is the only one that ever warranted a top 5 pick in his career.
