Already own one. It's my favorite rifle to shoot. I use it in my pond and I think it floats?
My first gun purchase when I was 18.
Best .22 ever!

I think thats what my stepdad has, I shot that thing one time and begged him to let me keep it. So much fun to shoot, congrats

How much you paid? I picked one up in December from a guy in Lafayette who I found on Bayou Shooter. Needs a little TLC but I got it cheap ($180).
I know in good condition they're going for $400+.
This was also the first gun my Dad ever got me but I lost it in Katrina, hence why I got another one recently.

Until your eyes can't shoot open sight anymore.....My first gun was a newly bought Nylon 66, the black stock w/ chrome receiver/barrel. GREAT gun, until you put a scope on it.
Enjoy your new gun!

Great part of the .22 culture. I wish I knew how many rounds I've shot out of a nylon 66.
Go to Gunbroker and search "Black Diamond" which is the crème de le crème of nylons 66's.

They do not float. Although I personally didn't witness it, since I wasn't born yet, the story goes like this:
My Dad and a friend were canoing and plinking on the Pearl River one day when they capsized. The Nylon 66 went to the bottom. They spent the rest of that day diving down trying to find it but couldn't. Found someone a week later with a flat boat and motor that let them use it so they could go back and try to find it. Low and behold, they pulled it up via a weighed down treble hook.
Dad brought the metal receiver cover and barrel to a gunsmith who then parkerized it green. So upon him giving it to me when he felt I was old enough, I had a very unique Nylon 66 with the brown wood stock and a green barrel and receiver cover.
1 week in the fresh water pearl didn't hurt it (except for the finish) but 4 weeks in a Katrina-saturated safe, sitting inside an un-air condidtioned garage did her in.

I swear, if this site had a blocking tool, I would have blocked you for posting all these tragic images!

Everything looks lined up from my purchase as well. The FFL contacted the seller directly and the wheels are turning.
I can't wait to fire it, then take it apart for the first time. I love German engineering and can't wait to see how it fits together. It's wrong that I'm more interested in taking it apart than shooting it, but that should be a hoot as well. So amped.

The only thing creamy about the black diamond is that it is sought after by collectors for some reason. It is a cheaply made, ugly, and inaccurate rifle. Mine has a chrome plated barrel and receiver (the outside is chromed, not the inside).

Be careful w/ taking it apart. They can be a real problem putting back together. Cruise the 'net a little and you'll find a bunch of horror stories w/ folks taking apart Nylon 66's.

open sites mine shot great.
Never had a problem with accuracy.
They say the green one goes for 6 or 700 bucks.
The 1 I grew up with was black.
Wish I still had it

The black diamond's are sought after, yes, but if you ever come across a Seneca Green Only made from 1959-1962), THEN you can cream yourself!
