I can't believe MNiE is being thrown around with shows like Scrubs, Married With Children and Roseanne. WTF, am I taking crazy pills? I've seen MNiE here and there, and it always seems pretty terrible.

Or it is just the same universe.

I was never a big Roseanne fan, so I would say MNiE is better than Roseanne out of personal preference. Scrubs was better than MNiE. It was more well rounded. It was absurd and funny, but hit the emotional beats about as well as any recent sitcom. MNiE was just different. It always reminded me of a live action Simpsons with the well rounded universe and all the crazy one-off characters that would drop in from time to time (that was the only ways it reminded me of the Simpsons). And to go back to the BBT discussion from yesterday about the characters being in on the joke with the audience, it never felt like I was laughing at their white trashness without them knowing. They seemed to realize how ridiculous they were and were ok with it. Same thing with Raising Hope. They're all in on the joke. I know it's not the best show ever put on TV, but it was consistently funny, well made, and had a good point of view.

I can understand that, but this:

..can also be said for Roseanne too though.

I can see that. That's not why I didn't watch Roseanne though. The only person on Roseanne that didn't bother me was John Goodman. That's why I didn't watch Roseanne.

Still, whether Easter egg or no, isn't that evidence its in the same universe? Along with the nursing home name? Same universe.

If you are a fan, last nights raising hope was kind of a my name is earl reunion episode. For those not aware, Raising Hope and My Name is Earl take place within the same universe.
I was about to post about the fact that this weeks Raising Hope phenomenal because of the whole My name is Earl thing. As for the same universe.. I wouldn't say that, same show runner yes, not really the same universe, since crab man and earl were completely different characters in this universe. Oh, what about the NBC reference a few episodes back as well? This season has been full on Greg Garcia reliving his My name is earl days.

I enjoyed the show, and I liked the idea of a guy trying to change his ways, and do the right thing in life. I don't see many shows with a positive message anymore on tv.

We used to watch Earl and I loved last night's show. And laughed my arse off when Burt kicked the NBC dude in the junk and said "that's for cancelling my Name is Earl!".
