I've thought about binge watching My Name Is Earl since it's on Amazon Prime streaming. Been looking for a new comedy, and it's gotten decent reviews on Metacritic.

Never watched it before. How funny is it on a scale of Kroll Show to Arrested Development?

Couple of cheap laughs. Bad show.

Its definitely got its moments. Got a great list of actors and guest stars.

From Kroll Show to Arrested Development I give it a Scrubs

Awful show. I can't believe it wasn't cancelled sooner.

The only guy that's funny in it is the black guy.

I dunno what Kroll Show is, but I'd say it's a step below Scrubs. At least the good seasons of Scrubs. I watched it a few months ago and I didn't regret it, but it's down my list of best shows to watch on Netflix.

ETA: Yeah, it's about on par with the bad seasons of Scrubs.

I like scrubs way more but as far as laughs go they are on the same level to me.

I used to love that show back when it first started, but I must've been like 13. Haven't watched it in years.

Later I would watch Mallrats and Remember the Titans and be like "holy shite, that's Randy!"

It's a funny show. Some episodes are great. It's a bit Married With Children mixed with Rosanne. It's specific humor for certain audiences I think so it failed after a few years.

I didn't realize so many people didn't like the show. I thought it was really good. I have all the seasons on DVD and still watch them from time to time.

It's an interesting concept. They also did a really good job with the guest stars on the episodes that had them.

If you are a fan, last nights raising hope was kind of a my name is earl reunion episode. For those not aware, Raising Hope and My Name is Earl take place within the same universe.

They have the same creator, but are not in the same universe. Yes Dear and Raising Hope are in the same universe, Earl is not.

-Camden County is the neighboring county of Natesville
-The Pilot episode of Raising Hope includes a news report that states that a man from Camden County has finished his Karma list.
-The Old Folks home in Natesvile is the Earl J. Hickey Memorial Nursing Home
-Citizens from Camden county have even appeared in Raising Hope, Patty the day time hooker, Tim Stack, and the one legged lady Earl slept with.

The only one that appeared as the same character is Patty the daytime hooker. The others were different characters, just like every other crossover person from My Name is Earl.

Product of being from the same creator.

Easter Egg for fans of Earl. Nothing more.

quote:

The Old Folks home in Natesvile is the Earl J. Hickey Memorial Nursing Home

More evidence that it's not in the same universe. Why would anyone name a nursing home after Earl Hickey in the My Name is Earl universe?

Yes Dear is set in the same universe as Raising Hope.
