Never really been a fan specifically but i really think he is doing a good job carrying the primary role in house of cards. Whats the concensus on him?

Dude is solid. He's had some really solid roles (his character in American Beauty, though I despise the film, is good) and has finally been given a chance to really carry something. He's doing it and making it look easy. I feel like the only knock on him is that he could have picked higher profile gigs in the last 10 or so years and generated more acclaim. He definitely has acting chops.
But I really love House of Cards.

I've always thought highly of Spacey's acting. I've just never cared for most of his movies especially over the last 15 years or so. I wish he attached himself to better projects because a lot of the movies he's involved in waste his talent.

I guess it depends. Another poster commented on him being cold, which is definitely a fair critique, but I think it's perfect for this show. I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt because he's never been BAD in anything (to my knowledge), he's really good in HoC, and he's been solid in other roles. Certainly some of that is writing, but his performance is positively chilling at times. I'm inclined to be generous and say he has the ability, he just hasn't had the role to showcase it before.
Some people aren't as generous, though, and that's okay.

Although he hasn't done anything at the level of Se7en or American Beauty lately, he's a great actor. Really need to see House of Cards though.
