I went to NOLA a couple of months ago - split an app and desert, 2 entrees, and a bottle of vino. Total bill, incl tip, was under $120.00. Didn't think that was bad at all, plus food was great. Wine was ok, but that was my fault.

Check Muriel's site to see if you're interested. It offers price fixed menus minus tax, tip and libations. Not sure what break the bank means in terms of what you want to spend.

Just got back from Sobou. Damn was it good. Had never been. Just walked in and was seated in 30 minutes. Foie gras burger was amazing. Bar was really cool. Would definitely recommend.

Galley on Metairie Road is good.

Coop's is good, but several blocks from Canal.
