I hope this was posted in jest -- as opposed to simply being the result of ignorance.

The guy in the link, Gordon Hutchinson, is a very good instructor.

There are some instructors in the area who are teaching things that will get you killed or put in prison. Gordon isn't one of them.

+1 Gordon teaches the full 9 hour course which is what is required by the state.

Beware of anyone advertising a 4 hour class!

The course I took was put on by a state approved instructor. It consisted of a 4 hour class on the law and shooting under supervision 36 rounds at a range. I have not seen a 9-hour course mentioned, unless the shooting covers that?

If yours was not a renewal class, your instructor is gonna have problems -- and if you get involved in a shooting, you may as well.

Call or send me an email if you want more info (follow link below for my contact info).

3) How long is the class?
The Louisiana State Police Handgun Permit Unit mandates a specific 9 hour curriculum which is one of the requirements to obtain a concealed
carry permit. We follow this stringent curriculum.

Any decent instructor would follow the law.

His classroom time doesnt include shooting. You do it on you own time. At least thats the way it was when I took it in Dec. Not sure if this is what they are saying is correct or not, just stating what he did with our 2 3 hr night classes.

How was the instruction?

I am not really interested in cc, just thinking of having a pistol around and want to get more comfortable prior to bringing one into the house?

There are lots of good instructors near the BR area. Gordon has a great rep as does Ernie. Either one will teach you right.
