i still use mono on my main inshore/freshwater reels, i just like it better. only reason i don't have all mono on all our rod/reels is we don't use them enough to justify respooling every couple of months when the braid has 0 line memory.

I don't like the feel of fighting a fish on it. I feel like I get more pull offs. I fish really, really clear water 80% of the time.
Fair enough. I've fished it in everything from 0 visibility to 15'+ visibility fishing saltwater around tampa bay or offshore. I always use a leader regardless of the visibility though.
I don't have an issue with my leaders breaking off. I can't recall a single time I have lost a fish due to my leader connection breaking to be honest.
I don't care what you do as it doesn't affect me, and recognize your personal experience will trump some anecdotal evidence from a stranger on a message board, I was just curious.

I use sunline mono, suffix mono, and power pro for braid. Phasing out all of the fluoro-coated pline mono, had breaking problems with it. Trying to get away from trilene too, can't stand it. Hate the feel of it
This sunline is probably my favorite so far

Used to do that with c-rig
Thats the only time I have two different lines on my rig. I use braid for a main line and whatever else for a liter. Can find the gravel beds Im looking for at the creek a lot easier that way when Im c-rigging.

some lines when left on the spool for a long time will come off looking like curly cues, it doesn't flatten out

yozuri hybrid is also pretty good, it's just got a little thicker diameter than i would prefer

Really?
Poor knot strength. False claim of no stretch. Inconclusive visability and handling like wire.
Read this.

interesting, i just read through that..i did not know the palomar knot was frowned upon with FC line, it's pretty much all i tie, i see how well the p-line performed but then i got to the knot strenth comparison...it looks like the seaguar invizx outperformed all others, maybe that's why i like it so much. This makes sense as so many of my breakoffs were at the knot.

I use a uni for everything. Works really really well. Ad a second loop at the start, and it's even better.

I have so few uses for braid that I don't even keep it on a reel any more.
The only thing I don't throw on braid is rogues/jerkbaits and crankbaits. I, personally, love the solid hooksets and sensitivity it gives me. Is there something in particular about it you don't like?

I have used trilene 100% fluoro for about two years and have had no issues as of yet . I use a palomar knot on jigs and snell tie all my worm hooks . But I have yet to have a knot break . I fish a ton of piers and cypress in oxbows and like that I can jerk a good fish out of there if I absolutely have to . I still use mono on all rods beside my flipping and pitching rods though . It just seems that the sensitivity is better with the fluoro to me .
