Predictions for the opening day bench spots, assuming Laird is our starting catcher? I'll go with: Francisco Pena Constanza Reed Johnson Gattis (backup catcher)

Bethancourt over Gattis at backup catcher

I don't think Gattis or Bethancourt make the Opening Day roster. I see Pagnozzi being the backup til BMac gets back.

I firmly agree. I'm still shocked he went to Boston.

TBF, it is something that must be considered.

JUP needs to lose some fricking weight. Heyward looks like he's gonna be on another level this year

Yeah, it needs to be considered. My least favorite part about baseball is players leaving. I get too attached.

Down right stupid to even think about trading Kimbrel.

Yeah, now it would be dumb. But using 15% of your payroll on a 60-70 inning pitcher is stupid as well.

Yeah, I get that teams overvalue most closers, but Craig Kimbrel isn't most closers. If he remains anywhere near as dominant as has been the Braves would be crazy to trade him anytime soon. Even if/when his K/Rate declines he has lowered his walk rate every season since the joining the Braves system. For every dominant closer you find (Smoltz, Rocker, Kimbrel), there are pitchers that don't work out in the closer role, such as Kolb and Reisthma.
