yeah that's one way. LSU has tigerware where you can get up to so many software items free. If youre in college they probably have something similar. I paid for every OS I have owned but people say windows7 is really easy to pirate. If nothing else, theres always linux lol

Yeah, if you don't want to pay for Windows 7 Ultimate, there is a pirate by the bay who says it's really easy to acquire it. I can't remember the last time I paid for software that wasn't a game or for a customer. The problem with some Tigerware software these days is that you have to reactivate it every few months over LSU vpn. They used to give away Windows 7 Free and Clear, but not anymore.

You aren't grabbing that mobo with free ram combo? That PSU is overpriced. I wouldn't bother with it

If you're budgeting that much for your power supply I'd look at this one Seasonic Gold rated 850 watt modular power supply Seasonic is THE name in power supplies. No one makes a better one and they OEM for a ton of other companies. Both of the Seasonics are fully modular which helps a lot in cable management. BTW, you're way over your power requirements right now with 850 watts. You can get the Seasonic 660 watt Platinum power supply for $130 after rebates. That's 55 amps out of the 12V rail.

I would rather not spend that much on a psu but i do know that you don't want to go cheap either. How is this one?

It has two 12V rails so you're going to have to pay attention when you plug in components. 24 amps per 12V rail. Single rail designs are easier to deal with. Use this Power Needs Calculator to calculate the draw of your system and how much power supply you'll need. It's a fantastic tool.

I would wait 2-4 weeks to see if seasonic power supplies go on sale again. I got my 650w gold fully modular for that price Edit: Buckeye, he won't need more than 500w to power a 660ti/7870 or lower. I know it wouldn't be "ideal," but it would power his system perfectly especially if he gets a quality one

Agreed. I'm an overkill guy for power and from his first couple of posts about PSUs it looked like he might be as well.

Just get you a SeaSonic or AX/TX Corsair. 750W+ so you have room to grow in the future.

How important is it to get a CPU cooler right away if I am not overclocking at this time? I would like to save the money if possible and just pick one up later.

If you're running stock and not intending to do any sort of 24/7 CPU-intensive operations (i.e., folding, Prime95, linpack, etc) for an extended period of time, then it's perfectly fine.

I actually had that mobo in my cart on newegg yesterday and it showed it came with 8 gigs of free ram. I put it in my cart just now, but I don't think they are still offering the ram with it.
