Who all is going to wait for 2 hours in line for king cake this weekend?
Posted on 2/6/13 at 1:02 pm to PurpleAndGold86
They aren't a 2 hour line good.

Well aren't you lucky. I live in Houston, so that is difficult for me to do.

What in your opinion is better than that?

I work in Algiers. Antoine's and Hi-Do on the Wank are better and cheaper IMO. In Covington, Nonna Randazzo's are good without the wait. I like Manny's enough but the wait and cost are too much to deal with.

Anyone own the rights for mkenzie's king cake?
Posted on 2/6/13 at 4:17 pm to PurpleAndGold86
you can get a nonna randazzo king cake from the carnival store by cortana. there usually isn't a line at all.

I went last Friday and waited 10 minutes, I don't understand why people go mardi gras weekend to wait 2 hours.

Not as good as Manny's, but definitely a solid plan B.
And to the guy making the yack at Randazzo's, you're a fricking idiot, and I mean it harsher than it looks.

You can get McKenzie's King Cake from Tastee. Both the one on Transcontinental and W. Esplanade and W. Metairie and Clearview. I used to get my old school Tastee Donuts king cakes there too. Basically a glazed donut shaped king cake with purple, green, and gold sprinkles and a big plastic crown on it. I love those things

You can get nonna randazzos from a Kmart.
It's a subpar cake. Same recipe but the dough just isn't the same. And the sprinkles on hers are not mardi gras colors.
Mckenzies is too dry

Maybe because they don't live in New Orleans?
Me and my wife come in Mardi gras weekend and we both really like the king cakes and this will be the second year we come get them Mardi Gras weekend.
It shouldn't affect you too terribly much.

One of my buddies was touting the Mackenzie's this weekend, worth a drive from BR? I grew up chasing chickens and eating Meches king cake, I'm looking to expand past Randazzos.
