finished it off in 2 nights

That was an absolute fantastic television series. I've never seen the West Wing, but if you liked The Wire for all the reasons that I loved it, you will love this show

granted, H.o.C. is much more "dramatic" while The Wire is much more true to live, but character development, plot, storyline, arcs, and the like were some of the best TV I've seen in a while

This is fricking awesome. Just finished the 1st episode. Looks like I'm not getting shite done tonight.

The west wing is ok...just a little to left wing for me to truly enjoy. The wire as we all know, is the greatest show in history so I'm not sure just one season of this can surpass it.

I'm through episode 4, loving it so far. Was worried that it would fall off after the Fincher episodes, but that's definitely not the case. Gonna finish the season on Wed/Thurs.

We finished the season last night. All-in-all a very solid show. I wouldn't rank it near my tops shows, but it was very good. I hope Netflix continues this idea of new series. Now the only problem is instead of waiting 9 months for a new season, I have to wait 12.

I've loved the first three episodes, even though I can not stand Spacey's thick, fake southern accent.

I kind of like it, but I think that's because it reminds me of when he played Jim Williams in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

I think its spot on. Before they said where he was from, me and the 3 other people watching in my living room all guessed it was a Carolina Southern accent. They are all different, e.g. Texas, MS/AL, Georgia, Carolinas. I think its just hard to swallow because you know he's not Southern, but he sounds like a true old school Carolina congressman.

Finished season1....good show, definitely went a couple directions I wasn't expecting. This is a thinking man show, lots of manipulation and political games at work.

This show is a lot more "serious" and climactic than the west wing, which I like.

I hate how it ends.

And how long it is going to be until Season 2 starts.

Almost made me wish I didn't even watch it until Season 2 was closer.

Great show.

I thought overall it was really strong. Acting, writing and particularly the score. Music adds a lot to the series.

The story is pretty tight despite being fairly windy, but it never really strays.

One episode I didn't care for was when Frank returned to his college. Thought it was fairly pointless and didn't further the story much.

Also, really don't agree with the decision to break the 4th wall. It's humorous enough when Spacey does it, but I don't see it fitting with the overall tone of the show. It works on a show like House of Lies, because that's very comical, almost silly. House of Cards, at the heart is drama-based. Elements of humor, sure, but it's aim isn't to make you think. In that sense, I'm not sure breaking the 4th wall is the best artistic choice.

That said, it's not bad enough to make me dislike the show at all.

Good series but not great. Think the BBC series it is based on did a better job but I guess that's true for most things we get from overseas.

Have high hopes they build on this and season 2 is great.
