if you dont mind me asking, wheres your little bro going to play?
At a FCS school most likely. He's on a road trip right now visiting a bunch of schools in MS, Bama, etc. He was being recruited for safety by the in-state schools (Tulane, ULL, Tech, etc) but didn't play safety his senior season because of injuries and the team makeup required him to be at RB full time. Not having any new film caused him to them to back away despite good camp performances and getting invites to go visit. Edit: He was also invited to be a preferred walk-on at LSU for safety. Not sure if he's going to do that though.

sounds like they use the same mechanism used at the us army combine. Once your finger leaves off a device that is placed on the ground the timer starts. if that is the case then it is acually a good time. if not, then i have no idea.
Bayou Blazer is right. I have witnessed this. That is what makes comparing forty times VERY difficult. It is much easier to compare times when they were all taken the same day under the same circumstances like the NFL combine. My hunch is that Speedy is a legit 4.4 forty guy when hand timed on a good surface, and that 4.7 is what Bayou Blazer is describing.

Thanks. I, selfishly of course, wish he'd stay home and try to earn a scholarship as a junior or senior at LSU, but I think he wants to get more playing time.

I have seen some of Speedy highlight tapes. Let's line up Speedy against all these guys (when they were at their peak) on this board claiming 4.6s and see what he does to you. Same goes for lining him up against all the skill position players from the past few LSU recruiting classes and I bet he is right there with most of them. I am not worried about inflated BS hand held times. I am worried about how good a football player he is and how Speedy will produce on the field.

4.7 at NFL experience=4.38 in real life!

Four of my friends (who are in decent shape) went Wednesday night and the best time between them was a 5.9 if that says anything.

Exactly right. Everyone freaks out about how slow a 4.7/40. The is a high school athlete and an electronic time of 4.7 is very good. It was the high school coach that was so excited that he wet his pants when he pressed start after his athlete took his first full step out of the blocks and pressed stop when he thought that he spotted a shoe lace over the line. That 4.7 is likely to be an easy 4.4 to that guy. Biggest lie in sports is the 40 yard dash. If his highlight film shows him running away from everyone, that's fine by me.
