The thing is: We are probably going to win 15-20 more games if we stay healthy which would put us in the 30-35 win area. There isn't really any "difference makers" that would help us outside of the top 3-5(even those are questionable) so we would be looking at a project(depth for us which we need) and that's OK I can't root for my team to lose that's just stupid IMO In Demps I trust

So wouldn't being a top 7 team be the reason we win those close games? Good teams find a way or have enough good players to win. If that's the case then we shouldn't revert back to winning 40% unless something bad happened. I get why you want a higher pick, but there is no positive way to get what you want.
One of the biggest things I want to see this year is for our team to develop that killer instinct that wins close games. It seems like Vasquez and Gordon are pretty close to there. Anderson is capable of hitting some daggers, as well. We just need for that mentality and fortitude to get contagious and start spreading.

Here's how I see it.. You can call all the Tank supporters fair-weather, horrible fans all you want, but I am for what's best for the franchise long term. In this case it helps our franchise if we lose and increase our chances at a quality pick in the draft. I hate it, but its the product of the system. There are 4-6 teams that can win the title any given year. 5 of those teams are the same ones because they have the money and prestige to attract all the big players. Then there is usually one outsider (OKC) that gets in because they drafted well and got lucky. This is what the Pelicans need to strive for.

When does it stop though? If we tank this year and our pick happens to not pan out, do we tank again next year? What if that following year's pick ends up getting hurt or something. Do we then tank again? When do you start cheering for wins? Only if the team starts out doing well? If come midway of the year it looks like they may miss the playoffs, automatically go into tank mode?

Do you have a collection of opposing teams' jerseys since you never want us to win?

So go nuggets, twolves and suns. The drafting of a small forward keeps us on track with the Oklahoma City model
The more I think about this the more I think it's wrong. Everyone keeps saying we should copy OKC or the Spurs, but they never lost on purpose. The Spurs had one bad year and OKC was just really horrible. But I can't think of a championship team, over the last 10 years or so, that was built solely through the draft. Miami- big free agents and Wade. Dallas- hasn't had a losing year in a long, long time (no lottery picks). Lakers- drafted Kobe and Bynum (10th pick), but the rest were by trade or FA. Spurs- drafted all the big 3, but Parker and Manu were lucky late picks. Pistons- Hamilton and Prince were drafted, but the stars were all added by trades. Celtics- Pierce and Rondo were drafted (a decade apart), but the team was built by trades. My point is, this team can't just sit back and wait for the draft every year. They need to show constant improvement and add pieces to a really good core (Davis, Gordon, Anderson and maybe Rivers/Vasquez). It doesn't need more lottery pieces..

the issue is, we're small market and stars like to go to big markets. unless we overpay for superstars/stars, we don't get them. maybe we need to develop potentials instead or role players after developing GV, AD, and gordon. you don't see lebron wanting to go to toronto, you don't see melo wanting to go to memphis, and I guarantee deron williams never wants to go back to Utah. Some examples, but you get the point. I think we need to stop using OKC as the template and use San Antonio. one bad draft landed them duncan and since then it's been smooth sailing for the past decade. why? pops took the time to develop players through his own picks or just free agents that came cheap. 1st round 28th pick - tony parker 2nd round 28th pick - manu ginobili 2nd round 7th pick - dejuan blair 2nd round 16th pick (by bulls) - matt bonner 1st round 28th pick - tiago splitter the list can go on and on, but you get the point. take the SA route!
