I've been travelling so was out of the loop in regards to the very sad ending to this story. At the airport killing time the other day I told my friend I saw this kid AND his snowmobile faceplant on a jump last night and my first reaction wasn't to handwring about the outcome but instead to say "what...the F#%K did you THINK was going to happen at some point in this event?!!?

Never been on a snowmobile, but was wondering if there is any way that they could make the front skis disengage when they clip the ground like that. Probably would have saved his life, if possible.

Sorry to hear about Moore. Sucks you can get up and walk away and then die a week later.

Wasn't there a guy who did a skateboard trick in the summer X Games and he lost his board and fell like 20 feet? I think the guy was okay and no broken bones.

This is one of those competitions where everyone was expecting a death eventually.

I mean shite .... flipping around on snowmobiles is asking to get crushed.

Pretty much. They said on the X Games broadcast that the snowmobiles weigh 400lbs. It's hard to endure a good shot from a snowmobile that is basically free falling from 40 ft in the air.

Incredibly dangerous "sport"...and I use that term VERY loosely...and one that should not be on broadcast TV !

Jesus Christ, how did no one get killed or seriously injured there?

The better question is how were people not able to get out of the way of a snowmobile moving in a straight line for about 60-75 yards before it even got to them?

Also, RIP.

I saw this one real-time, and I thought for sure that dude was, at the very least, going to end up in a coma or something.

Moore's crash was nasty, but not nearly as cringe-worthy as the dude free falling 30+ feet onto flat ground and hitting so hard his fricking shoes fly off. Crazy.
