re: Gorrilla Ball Bats vs Bats LSU Today

I've played a year of college ball in juco. My senior year in high school was the last year that the regular aluminum composite bats were allowed so when I went to college it was a pretty significant transition. The new bats are bbcor certified and basically the difference is just a smaller sweet spot, and they also don't have the tempoline effects of the older bats. But with that being said if you hit the ball in the right spot it still will fly. It also helps the pitcher from giving up a crappy blooper over an infielders head. With that Being said it still has more pop than a wooden bat.

i really really really HATE these new bats. i have hated them from day 1. i miss that ping, especially the sound the old bats made when someone drilled a ball over the fence.i know they will never change it back but i will never like these bats.

Wood bats are too expensive for most teams to field them and BBCOR is endorsed by scouts because its the next best thing for evaluation sake.

That said, bertman's teams were fueled by steroids just as much as the -6 bats, even after 97 when the NCAA first changed the bats

The new bats are not popular among most fans, but they are better for the sport and development of the players. Not to mention they are safer for the players on the field.

The bats went from a drop 5 to a drop 3 to a drop 3 bbcor.

The part that is irritating are the new bats that are put on the shelves, but then banned from competition weeks or months later.

Are you talking about after they are used for a while they become banned? I read somewhere that the resin or whatever it is that deadens the bat loses its ability to do so after some period of time. They disqualified I think 30 bats from the CWS last year and all were BBCOR certified.

If the bats are found to be too "hot" (too much pop) they are banned from play. I'm not sure how they measure that, but it happens a lot. There was a new mariucci bat just banned and a lot of people are speculating the Easton s1 will be.

In the sweet spot wood has more pop than bbcor

Fitz, you sound like a bat salesman.

I think the only reason college baseball, high school and younger still use metal bats is because of the money market, period. Easton and all the others have a big say-so in the decision making process. All wooden bats from top to bottom is the way it should be, but because of money influence, it will never be that way.
