Well, you are taking the Barbe example and extending it across the entire state.
In LC, it might be a racial issue. Statewide, it's much more than a racial issue.
And race is not a detriment to Barbe. It's at its peak right now. In the 1980s, it had trouble attracting black athletes because it was TOO white. Now, it's at about 33 percent black enrollment, enough where, if the black students were to leave and form their own school, it would be a borderline 3A/4A school, so it's a significant enrollment. Of course, it's still about 60-65 percent white, meaning roughly 1,200 white kids.
Right now, Barbe is the perfect school to attract an athlete of any ethnic background.
I can see it getting to the point where white flight kicks in and it's no longer the "in" school for white athletes, but that's not the case now.

So in this scenario, who is in the district with St. Louis? Are they grouped with Notre Dame, Teurlings, STM? Any other private schools in the mix there? What about really small private schools like Hansen Memorial and St. Edmunds?

not districts
for playoffs only
1A and 2A selects
3A, 4A, 5A selects
so theoretically UHIGH (300 totals kids) could play Rummel (1000 boys) in the State Select Playoffs

the main area where there is an issue of public/private is SELA. the only reason it became an issue is race
LC isn't anything. BR/Nola? prepare your anus

Check pay scales St Charles pays well but the school board is a joke. Talked to a friend who is a head coach in girls sports, he wants the split in all sports. Oh and his team has been in the finals 4 straight yrs and has won it.

So in this new set up, are the districts still going to combine public and private?

bc they don't want to pay what good coaching costs?
That's probably the heart of it.

That's my understanding. To answer the question somebody asked before, St. Louis will compete in a 3A district with Westlake, Iowa and whoever else is in the district. They only split in the post-season.
Westlake and Iowa will get to compete with Livonia and Loranger in the playoffs. St. Louis will probably have to play Rummel and Evangel.
I put St. Louis in 3A because they reclassed down for next year. Right now, they are playing in 4A.

Enough with the Barbe thread. Can somebody list all the schools that will be put together in the 2 select classes. Let's see what schools will really benefit the most and which schools are going to have to adjust to losing more.

regular season the same, all game contracts will be honored as of now
districts the same
playoffs
those designated select enrollment in 1A and 2A will be seeded some kind of way
those designated 3A/4A/5A select bracket
2 separate brackets
Non-select enrollments will be split up into three brackets
the talk is the Select bracket finals games will be played in the Superdome on the Thursday

UHigh moved up to 3A enrollment this reclass, which means it's roughly 430 or so students (bottom of 3A is somewhere around there).
Your point is still valid.

I don't see the 1A or 2A non-select enrollments getting their title games on Friday or Saturday if the select enrollments will include the likes of Curtis, Evangel, Parkview, the Catholic League, etc.

Their enrollment was 3A this year, as they were about the 4th or 5th school above the 2A/3A line.

What if Evangel and John Curtis, with their 2A enrollment and trailers for classrooms, have to play in the lower division of the select side?

don't blame them.. blame the people that threw ECA and JC out of a 4a and 5a.....
