I live in BR and was wondering if I should give it a shot and where I should go to try it (other than that place on Essen lane because I avoid that traffic cluster%$*k like the plague).

Jeepers, you could have had dinner at our house tonight

I have and for some reason just cannot take one of the spices that seems to be in every dish.

I don't know, my hometown didn't have any Indian people. In BR, the only good Indian place that I know of is on Essen and I refuse to brave that street for just a meal. Is Rama any good? That place is an easier drive.

Curry?
I have had true Indian food a few times, I dated a girl while I was in college that was from India. She made some good arse food, but the curry is different than what we are used to.

Good to know. I used to like Thai Kitchen before it went all sushi and karaoke. I've considered trying it again, but that's unrelated to this thread.

For starters the only correct answer is Bay Leaf

Hit up a lunch buffet. I don't know if Bay leaf has one, but I know India's on Essen does. The buffet is a good way to get your feet wet.

Yes the both have lunch buffets
Bay Leaf is better but the place in Essen is still solid nonetheless

Essen isn't that bad dude. Get over yourself, princess.

I always hear people on this board say that Bay Leaf is, hands down, the best Indian restaurant in Louisiana, which isn't saying much since there's a lack of Indian cuisine here. I've been to Indias on Essen and Taj Mahal in Old Metry. I liked Indias better. Have yet to try Bay Leaf, Himalayas, or Nirvana in Nola.

In Meca, there's A Taste of India in the Garden District. It's in the old Peking location. Very good food is coming out of that kitchen. The have a very affordable and well stocked lunch buffet and an evening dinner service. I'd love to see there traffic pick up. Nice people and great food.

Yeah, but all their food tastes like it has curry or something in it.

Nirvana = Taj Mahal. Same people. Same food. Both are meh, but I eat at them a lot as that's all we've got.
