So bizarre, but I fail to see where any discussion is needed. As a player you just have to depend on the refs to see it and add time, there is no other option.

It is pretty amazing that people can have 2 different opinions. The blown up gif makes it even more clear that Hazard was trying to pull the ball out and then kicked it from underneath. Also, Eden has no history of violent conduct so until he has a history he should be taken at his word that he didn't intend nor think he kicked the kid. If the kid comes out with pics of bruises tomorrow, I may change my mind on what actually happens. Because the way he played it he would be bruised. Hazard is still in the wrong for his reaction.

I find it funny that some who go ballistic when players hit or kick referees are thinking that what Hazard did is okay and should go unpunished.

Not just here, but on Twitter, too.

Who? Who has said Hazard shouldn't be punished? Everything I read says he should. Everyone on here says he should. Too be fair, RvP put his hand on a ref and shoved him and got nothing. Is that fair? If so, is it fair to punish Hazard? He kicked the ball not the 17 year old that was bragging about wasting time before the match.

I think he was trying to kick the ball, but def got a piece of the kid...

the precedent is 6 weeks ban?? throw the book at him...

Well...

Clearly innocent and harmless red card should be rescinded immediately.

I concur, but I still think he should have kicked him harder.

There's two in here. I've seen more on Twitter. And, yes, it's mostly from Chelsea fans. But still.

Not even comparable, really. Big difference in what RvP did and other referee "attacks".

If Hazard would have tried to tug the ball out with his hands, no one would have a problem. It's the kick...whether he meant to hit the kid or not, whether he actually hit the kid or not...you don't do that.

If RvP would have punched the referee instead of shoving him, he would've been suspended. Name another time a player has been suspended for making contact with a referee that wasn't hitting or kicking them. I've seen a good bit of players push referee's shoulder like "What the heck was that call?", similar to what RvP did. They didn't get suspended.

There's a big-time difference.

Man.. he kicked the ballboy. Whether or not he also made contact with the ball doesn't change that fact.

6 matches? Who has sent down that precedent? Also, would FA cup matches count? I don't really know what his punishment should be, but he should get one. Since the kid said he did it on purpose does that change things? Does the kid get some sort of ban? Is that kid even allowed to drink beer?

It was in the 80s when a player from inter did something similar to a ball boy... I doubt it will be relevant in this case... but may not be out of order... he kicked a ball boy that's still a kid... no matter how funny watching that gif is... think i'll go watch it again...

They did in Suarez's ban, so i would assume they would apply to whatever Hazard gets

I didn't really think Hazard was that much in the wrong before, but this helps back the fact that he was going for, and got, the ball with his kick.

For me about 5 games for Hazard is about right and that kid should never be allowed to be a part of a game again other than attending as a normal spectator.

I meant in comparison to others who called for Hazard's head for kicking a "defenseless kid". Obviously the kick was out of line but I never thought it had malice behind it.
