would you expect to be able to find an open table at a nice restaurant?

What Thursday?

Before Superbowl? Before Mardi Gras?

Yes. A Mano is very rarely completely full, especially on a Thursday night. Root, Annunciation and Tomas Bistro are all places you could most likely get in as well.

then I'd damn well invite my good friend OTIS2 down to Nola to even into a party of 6...that's what I'd do.

Of course you bring up all the places I didn't call. A Mano was my next phone call but we gave up and just went to Bon Ton. Knew we could get a table there.

Root wasn't happening. Not a place my old-fashioned father would like. Don't know much about Annunciation or Tomas Bistro. Are they good?

Herbsaint, Cochon, August and Tommy's. All booked.

I'm not complaining. Just shocked. Didn't know of anything being in town so didn't expect it.

The first three are pretty much always booked. Tommy's will feign it, hoping you are willing to butter up the matre d.

Rio Mar - alway got in with no reservations when everything else was booked.

Done it during jazzfest, Mardi Gras and Sugarbowl weekend
