Gallbladder removal question for the FB

I'm getting my gallbladder removed soon and, as a foodie, I'm worried it might limit some food choices. Who's had it done, and did you get back to eating delicious foods? TIA

Good luck and I can't help you. Might want to post a thread on the OT for Dr's help.

Have not had any issues with any kinds of foods. Actually felt so much better after the surgery. No more of the full feeling and quesiness. No food restrictions at all!
Hope your surgery is as successful as mine was!

Pretty simple procedure. Healing time is not that long. You should be able to eat normally the next day. You will probably notice that your tolerance for fried foods and acid-rich (e.g. tomato-based) foods has diminished somewhat but that's what they make Prilosec for. Bon Apetit !

My dad has had his out probably 10 years ago and he has quite possibly the worst diet of anyone I have ever seen, he drinks quite often and eats whatever he wants. Not sure if this is normal, but I would say you'll be fine

I can't tell a real difference. I still each rich food. You might have a few "issues" at first, but nothing too crazy.

It has been several years since I had my surgery but reading these threads I do remember at first everything I ate went straight through me! I was concerned but it did not last long.
Don't even notice a difference now.

I had it done about ten years ago. It was laparoscopic surgery, in and out on the same day followed by three days at home. Had some real problem with muscle spasms the first two days but nothing unbearable.
Bowel habits do change without a gall bladder. If you eat fatty foods it triggers a release of bile by the liver, all of which pours directly into the small intestine instead of being moderated by the gall bladder. This can cause a sudden urgent need to take a dump.
Over time this effect seems to have lessened and I pretty much eat normally now with no side effects. Just stick close to a bathroom at lunch time and you'll be okay.

Friend of ours had it five years ago. Eat then immediately poop is his routine.
