Gonna be tough to beat, its the best there is IMO... But do try Dons in Scott
Its on my top 5 list but mostly because its a very different flavor than others.

Need to add a Muffaletta from Central Grocery to that list..

And I might add you will have a hard time finding a good Jambalaya at a restaurant.
Your best bet might be a festival or Tailgating @ Tiger Stadium

Tell me more. I'm always searching for the best pork products.

Chops is a small specialty meats shop in Broussard. Their cracklings are incredible. They also have great steak cuts. Their Wagyu Beef filets are legit.

For Gumbo, try Dempsey's in Baton Rouge

Po'Boys: try Mother's in addition to Parkway

Oysters: try the fried ones at Buster's Place in Covington

Catfish: Middendorf's

I compare all gumbos to my booboo Dempseys. None have matched yet.

I'd recommend there for jambalaya too.. not because it's the best jambalaya I've had but because it's one of the only places I know that serves jambalaya

Chops has been added to my westward pilgrimage itinerary. Since Billy's opened their new place in Scott right down the road from Don's and Best Stop, it's been even tougher to keep my truck from leaving the road there.

Not a turdurken fan, but Hebert's stuffed chickens are the originals and the best. Their base for dirty rice is excellent. Good stuffed meats.
