do not read if you don't like GLENN GUILBEAU !!!
if you do read please don't show your stupidity by saying that you didn't read after you were warned. (ok, my bad, show your stupidity.)

LINK

Considering all the losses before the losses, it was a significant accomplishment that the 2012 Louisiana State football team managed to finish 10-3.

p.s. did search and scrolled for post. sig

p.p.s. this is for positigahs or realists.

Good read!

I scoffed when Herbstreit said at the beginning of the season that losing HB probably cost LSU a trip to the NCG - in hindsight, I completely agree now.

I felt this way for some time. Any other team would/should have dropped many more games.

Our D has carried us for two or three years. Any offensive production more than what we have now will be awesome.

It really shows how resilient our team is. Despite what some think, coaching played a role in keeping us this good. Miles haters would like to think otherwise.

All that said, LSU’s offense – significantly improved over the previous four seasons with glimpses of a true passing game but still inconsistent – left the field against Alabama and Clemson with the lead and with not much more than 90 seconds remaining. And it lost both games. That had never happened at LSU as long as John Chavis was the defensive coordinator, beginning in 2009.

Criticize LSU head coach Les Miles, offensive coordinator Greg Studrawa or both all you want for running at the end of LSU’s final possession against Alabama when Mettenberger was the hottest player on the field and for passing at the end of LSU’s final possession against Clemson when tailback Jeremy Hill was the hottest player on the field. But it was the defense that was on the field when the game was lost.

Best article by GG that I have ever read and not because it is positive. It is true. The defense really fell apart as the season wore on.

I wonder why. Couldn't be because our defense had to play twice as much as other teams due to an offense that couldn't sustain drives longer than four plays.

Average college football team runs 65 plays. Clemson ran 109. Our defense was gassed. They held one of the top offenses in college football to 22 points before the last kick. I think they did their job. IMO, it was too much to keep asking your young defense to once again win a close game for you because your offense (especially your game plan and game calling) sucks total arse.

Nope, not blaming the defense for this one.

Clemson has 32 first downs. They weren't going 3 and out over and over again. LSU's defense couldn't get Clemson off the field and LSU's offense didn't have a whole lot of chances. Sure, LSU went 3 and out but they always do. Look at the Texas A&M game. But, eventually, they often start clicking when they can get the ball back.

If you think that LSU's defense from the last drive of the Alabama game all the way to the end of the Chick-Fil-A bowl was anything but garbage, then you don't know anything about football.

Could LSU's offense have been better? Absolutely. Should Mett have completed that pass or Landry or should we have run the ball on 2nd and 2 or 3rd and 2? Yes. But, the defense was just bad the last several games.

Maybe the reason is that after the Alabama loss, we had something like 7 junior defensive starters decide they were going pro and they didn't have anything left to play for? Think about it.

Against Ole Miss and Arkansas, the Defense was heavy legged.
Miles needs to learn when to pull back the reigns in practice.

Maybe, maybe not....but you can't deny nobody played the way they played against Alabama for the remainder of the games.

We all know the offense is limited as hell. But the offense had nothing to do with Simon and friends leaving Hopkins open all night.

I actually agree with GG. Losing, arguably, our most important offensive and most important defensive player probably cost us a few games.

Excuses don't cut it. This seems to be a pattern with Miles.

It takes a solid defense to win games in the SEC. It also takes an offense yhat hss punch, can sustain drives and svore touchdowns to ein in the SEC. When one of these two elements isn't there it us very hatd to win big games in the SEC. I think it is fair to say that our offense was MIA for much of this season.
