I like baking. Mostly because the results can be, if you do everything correctly, really really tasty.
I'm trying to get in to baking. Not my cup of tea either, but that's why I'm trying to learn it. Not many good bread bakeries in BR. Whole Foods is probably my favorite and that's unfortunate.

In the past month I've made blueberry cobbler, carrot cake whoopie pies and a banana cream pie and all have been great. Still really want to get into trying to bake different breads.

5 or 6 helping my grandmother before my mom got off work to come pick me up and take me home. Didn't start teaching myself how to cook until moving out of the dorms in college though. Bought a cookbook and it has been a lot of trial and error ever since.

My roommates and I didn't know any better. I'd also make jambalaya or gumbo but it was always out of one of those green Tony Chachere's boxes.

My whole life really. Started making biscuits and eggs when I was about 10, and always followed my mom and dad around the kitchen. After high school, I started cooking at a bar and grill, then moved to various different restaurants over the next 5 years or so, cooking everything from fried bar food to pizzas to running the line at a seafood and pasta type place. I was going to go to culinary school, but then started bartending instead. Then decided it was a good idea to get a straight job. Now, I am the weekend cook for the family.

My parents were always on call at the hospital, or working late. I was raised by a lady from Guatemala, and a lady from Honduras. They cooked well. I learned alot. When we didn't need sitters anymore, I started cooking for myself.

Started cutting pizzas for the local joint at 12. Been in the industry in some capacity for over the next 30+ years.

I only just started really. Trying to turn my Saturday's into my cooking days now. Trying to find some good slow cooking meals that I can also use for leftovers. I've always cooked very basic stuff. My mom's spaghetti, which I've changed completely, and other small stuff. I like my spaghetti, started working on my chili and did my first real red beans and rice a week or two ago. Looking for new directions now, though. I think I started cooking more complete breakfasts, and that's what got me interested. Really looking forward to cooking all day on Saturdays and drinking beer. So if beer is in the recipe I'm interested.

Being 1/2 Italian I grew up watching Mom and Maw Maw cook. It always fascinated me and it always tasted great. They would let me stir, hand them ingredients and such starting when i was like 6 or 7. But i became serious about cooking when I was about 22. At that time I was working for a food distributor and would sell/talk to chefs as they were prepping cooking. Sal Impostata, Sal and Judys, liked me allot and I could waste 2-3 hours watching him prep and cook. That's where I learned how simple the techniques really are. watching chefs cook at places like Mortons in Madisonville, Jacmle Inn, Nuvolari's, Trey Yuen, Murphy's Don's and the like. Most of the guys were young like myself and we would party together and wound up learning much from them. Today, I consider myself an above average cook over many styles. I take great pleasure watching friends/family enjoy my food.

I lived and worked in the greater New Orleans area for about a year when I was 30. It changed my life in many ways, and my interest in cooking (and eating) was one of them.

Started grilling and bbqing in my early 20s. Kind of took off from there. I started doing all the cooking in my early 30s when I became a stay at home dad.
