I like Mett but I lost count of how many times he overthrew an open receiver downfield this season.

I'm not denying this. My post was not so much a testimony to Mett's play but an indictment on our offensive philosophy and QB development.

I heard Johnny Manziel is a better QB than Zach Mettenberger too, those bastards!

I think Mett just gets a little dizzy in the pocket because he is constantly looking at zigzag routes krags draws up.

With absolutely no pass rush, they're probably about equal. In real game situations where a QB must actually move in the pocket and occasionally scramble, there is no comparison.

Bridgewater's footwork was great.

He actually did have a far better first year than Mett while having the same offensive line woes and no help from the run game

did you watch Mett this year
in short, both are horrible passers, but at least defenses had to respect the run with JJ

This. Someone pointed out on a sports talk show earlier in the season that opened my eyes to this. One problem LSU has is that the QB is no threat to run - at all. This allows coverages to tighten and you wind up with 11 defenders on 10 offensive guys.
This crap we are bitchin about will continue until we have some degree of mobility at the QB. The good news is that Rettig and Jennings both look to be mobile. The question for next year is do we go to a two QB system to address this problem. I was sick and tired of it last year but JL/JJ combo was better than one ZM...
