no I did it a few months ago with the help of the good folks on here. Have done one other build since then and it went super smoothly. Its like learning to ride a bike in that you're a little scared to try, but once you know how you just want to ride it everywhere.

Yeah, the thrill of upgrading and overclocking and subsequently cooling, for just a few bucks every few months, is quite a rush when you see noticeable results in your personal benchmarks and favorite games

that's interesting. my main reason for having a 560ti in my current build involves bad experiences with ATI drivers in my last build. Glad to see they've caught up.. been eyeing a new video card myself.

My personal experience while playing with a card from each company the past week

Yes in benchmarks ATM but wait until new game titles get released and AMD is lagging behind nVidia once again.

GK104 and GK110 =)

Yes but I still have issues with certain Triple-A titles.

I played a lot of FC3 with no reticule because for some reason it would glitch out on AMD cards. No issues on Nvidia. It's been fixed I think but I got the game early and it was an issue then.

Ah gotcha. I was wondering because I haven't had any trouble with fc3 except that uplay is terrible.

Only game I've had trouble with are the batman titles. Got AC to work after some tinkering, but AA refuses to

Do y'all think it would be hard for a person who has never built a pc to build one?

No. It is like putting legos together. After your first build, you will kick yourself for not building all you have ever owned.

There will be "WTF" moments, where does THAT go moments. But like everyone has said, it is like crack. I have to build another one!

Numerous build videos online.

Use pcpartpicker.com to put together your build. It will tell you if parts are compatible. Or a very knowledgeable friend.

You might get frustrated during the first build, but when it finally POSTs up for the first time...

Then your next thought is "Why did I pay $100 for Windows, I'm going to learn Linux, spend that money on a better CPU, or GPU...

So looking around and not wanting to spend $500 on a 680 I think I have decided I am going with a 670 or 660Ti.

Here are the choices for what I want to spend.

A 2GB 670 or a 3GB 660Ti?

What would y'all do?

I got my SOC edition 680 on ebay for $370, and the seller used it once for a review. I saw a few reference 680s going for $350ish

A 2gb

I don't think there any games out there that even utilize over 2gb of dedicated video card memory

Just my 2 cents

Altho I know you like to record. I'm not entirely sure if the 3gb card will offer a substantial advantage when recording. Research that key fact and go from there

Yea I am trying to stay around $350 if I can.

I have a $250 gift card for Amazon that I would like to use so Ebay is out.

What monitor and resolution are you playing on?

If you're on 1440p go with the 3gb, if only 1080p I'd go with the 670

1) sell the 7950
2) buy 680
3) ???
4) profit

If you don't need the extra VRAM for running mods or nVidia surround I would go with the 670.

They have the same amount of cores just the 670 has a larger bus.

Simply put:

1080 res = 2GB
1440 res = 3GB+
