man our leading scorer last year was MARCO BELINELLI lol

the roster this year is better than last years roster right now.

Wat

Jack > Vasquez
Bellineli is no worse than Mason or Rivers
Ariza > whoever our SF is this year
Davis has more potential, but Landry's experienced made him a very sold player. Push at PF between this year and last year
Okafor > Lopez

Lolwut. If anything, it's a push. But oak never had a night like Lopez had tonight.

no doubt about it man. we have a lot of problems right now to be honest. I know some may not want to admit it, but Gordon isn't going to come into a team like this and turn them around. sure he will help out with a handful of more victories if he can stay healthy for more than a week, but he's not a leader. I mean even when he put up 22 points per game with Blake Griffin on the Clippers they only won 32 out of 82 games and in the years before only won 29 and 19 games. point being, Monty's gotta get this team to improve as a whole without Gordon.

Oak was much more consistent and was better on the boards and defensively IMO

Last year's guards were better. Last years SF were better. PF were worse. C would be a coin flip.

I agree on the premise that our roster last year was better than what we have now, but...

No...and I'm not too high on Lopez either.

ok even if we say the rosters were relatively close and one wasn't better than the other, the fact remains that the team hasn't shown signs of improvement and Monty's play calling and decision making has remained dreadful.

don't get me wrong I support Monty and want him to succeed obviously. I'm just speaking to the tiny percentage of homers who are putting this guy on a pedestal when he's done absolutely nothing to deserve it. Monty needs to prove himself plain and simple and the excuses are eventually going to run out.

Lopez' PER this season is 19. Oak's during his time with the Hornets was about 16-17.

so overall, Lopez has been better, if you trust PER as a reliable stat. which I do.

Defensively, yes, Oak was probably a bit better.

I've never been big into following PER. And if you won't agree that Oak is better than Lopez then you have to agree that Oak/Ayon is better than Lopez with no real back up

I'll agree with that. but that also backs up my point that the bench last year was >>>> what they have this year

No player in NBA history has been posterized more than Okafor. solid player at best, but one of the softest big men in the league. it must be because he is a big Pearl Jam fan.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that Oak is a great player. He sucks. I just haven't really bought into Lopez unless he can keep up what he's been doing the past few games.

The fact that we got rid of Chandler for Oak still baffles me

Why does it baffle you?

It saved the Hornets broke arse owner a few million dollars.

Okafor had a cheaper contract per year than Chandler but was locked in for 5 years while Tyson had only 2 left. Shinn figured he would have sold the team in those 2 years, so it allowed him to pay less.

I know he has cancer and all, but seriously frick that man.

not true. Okafor had like 3 or 4 years left on his contract for more money and Chandler at the time only had like 1 or 2 years left.

Okafor had at least 3 or 4 years left on his contract while Chandler had much less. I do know what I'm talking. how did that save Shinn money?
