Just bought a bottle of Eagle Rare. Been having this one on my list for a while. A very nice add to my collection. Especially for the price. I think my next purchase will be a little higher end. Just not sure of what yet.

I typically always go over 3 or 4 ice cubes. Sometimes add a splash of water. That's what I had to do with the Eagle Rare. Rarely can I go 100% neat

Just got a single barrel Knob Creek and I doubt I'll try it neat. 120 proof, but on some agitated ice it's been smooth.

Had a nice sample of whiskeys last night compliments of one of my rental tenants.

Pappy van Winkle 23 yr old
Pappy van Winkle 12 yr old Rye
Kilochman single cask
Four Roses single cask
Glenmorangie 18 Cherry cask

I thought the 12 yr rye Pappy was better than the 23. The Kilochman was maybe the best.

My father bought me a bottle of the balvenie 14 year carribean cask. Very smooth with a lot of fruit/vanilla and enough peat to give it a good flavor.

One of my favorites to date.

If you haven't tried get it.

Good stuff but it packs a hell of a punch. I finally broke down and bought a bottle of Booker's. Tried it on the rocks with about 1 teaspoon of cherry juice. Quite nice !

That Pappy 12 Rye was the star of my flight at Avenue Pub a couple months ago...

I think 23 is more complex and an overall better spirit, but man that Rye was good...

I need to try this. Social restaurant in Lafayette has all the Pappy's. May splurge and taste them all one night. Or once I make it to The Cove in Br again.

I grabbed a bottle of this a week or so ago. It's hot but surprisingly smooth and drinkable for the proof. I take it with one ice cube (or sphere) but that's pretty much how I drink all my bourbon.

It's definitely an interesting and good scotch with nice, sweet fruity notes and enough vanilla and mild peat to round it out. First time I had it was actually at a tasting sponsored by the company. They had an English guy explaining the difference scotches and it was funny to hear some of the stories and what not. When he got to this one, he spoke about shipping all that rum to Scotland to put in their barrels, let them sit a while and absorb the rum into the barrels then what do you do with all the rum? Why thrown it behind the barn, of course

I almost killed a whole bottle of this during the Super Bowl. Couldn't help myself.
