This. And it is so overlooked. The Scott version will have the most votes, but if you want something quirky, humorous, and dark, watch this one.

1951 version and Bill Murray one are the two best IMO.

George C Scott (1984)
Patrick Stewart
Alistair Sim (1951)
1938 version

Didn't include Scrooged cuz, although I like it, it's more of a comedy.

I like A Muppet's Christmas. They use the same wording as the book, and I like that even though it's for kids.

Also the one with George C. Scott. NOT the one where they sing, frick that one.

and, just because it was my favorite as a kid, Mickey's Christmas Carol

Scrooged has made me lazy. I don't feel like watching more than one version and I must watch Scrooged.

I've started the Xmas rotation earlier this season, so I might go for a Finney or Stewart watch.

Another vote for Alistair Sim (1951).

I like the others as well, even the singing one. I'd put George C. Scott #2, and Patrick Stewart #3.

Scrooged is great, but has a different mood (comedy) than the others. If I'm going to watch a Bill Murray comedy, I'd usually choose a different Bill Murray movie. If I want to soak up some emotional, moralistic, traditional Christmas movie drama, I'm going with Alistair Sim.

Favorite line in the film when he is with the ghost of Christmas Future.
"Back off, big man. That stuff may work with the chicks, but not with me."
