On espn it says Bower is still intrested in lsu,florida,georgia,notre dame and rutgers...

well i dont have an espn acnt. I was reading about this yesterday. But on 247 hes a 4* committed to auburn and his rating is 94.

According to Auburn mods LSU has been on him a pretty good bit. He is a great player I value him almost as high as guys like Carl Lawson and Reuben Foster. Going to be an amazing rush end

Read yesterday he set up an official to LSU on Jan 25th. Not sure how long ago this was set up so sorry if germans. Dont think we have a chance but crazier things have happened.

Sonny says he's very interested in LSU. Work to do by our staff but Bower is serious and interested in learning more about LSU. We've been on him all year so he's not unfamiliar with Birck and whomever else is on him. Wouldn't say we have a great shot but we get a visit very late(maybe the last) and will be fresh on his mind. Likely comes down to whether or not he wants to stay home. UF is also a serious contender but we'll have to see how serious they are about him

He visits on the 25th, last visit before NSD.
Could be one of those late surprises we tend to usually pull. I think we want him in place of Tim Williams. He's our only realistic shot to replace Williams...Nkemdiche is an ultra long-shot.

Just trying to play devil's advocate here-
This would give us 4 ends and 4 tackles, assuming Bain is a silent and Lawson plays DT.
I know we are losing a lot on the line, but 8 guys is a TON. Maybe someone is looking around? I love all our commits BTW, I think guys like Patterson and Neal are steals.

We are losing 4 DEs, potentially 2 DTs (and a lot of folks on skeptical on development on MJ). We need some linemen.
Gilmore, LaCouture, Lawson, Bain at DT

When it comes to the lines, both offensive and defensive, you can never have enough bodies. Huge boom or bust rate at those spots. With the way we rotate bodies on the DL, numbers are paramount. Odds are that 3-4 of the 8 would be minimal contributors or non contributors. All comes out in the wash down the line. Also we are getting a mix of guys in this DL group, not those couple of pure stud guys. That doesn't mean our kids aren't good or capable of being outstanding players, just that they fit a particular role or are mostly potential at this point with lots of rough edges.
Neal-much discussed. He's a role player. Designated pass rusher meaning his snaps will be limited.
Herron-could fill many roles. Could grow to DT, could be a run stopping DE or could be that good, all around DE. Has the talent to be very good but he's limited to a point
Patterson-the all upside take. Could be a stud or could be a complete non factor. All depends on how he develops physically and skill wise. Likely a Montgomery type DE on the high end.
Lawson-huge potential. Has all the goods but is a long way from being where we need him to be. Could be next in line as that raw, undeveloped DT that turns stud or could never develop oe end up on the OL. In other words, far from a sure thing
Bain-much like Lawson. Could blossom or be a non factor. Also could end up on the OL. Again far from a sure thing
Gilmore-the safest of the DTs if only because he's for sure a DT. Still a kid that is not exactly a lock to be special. Has some developing to do.

Good run down. You are correct on can never have to much bodies on the lines. We saw it this year on the online. Not only can we lose six guys, but we may have a guy like freak leave early next year. Got to replace those guys in this class.

These newer Offenses/no huddles can wear D fronts down. Its good to be able to sub different fronts in to keep legs fresh for 4 quarters.
