Not a Cristobal fan, A guy named Mario just doesnt sound like a good football coach to me. However, this is not the year to be a struggling mid-major looking to hire a football coach.

FIU has some advantages of being in Miami, but they literally have to recruit against EVERYONE. They are not the it program or school down there. FIU would have better luck if they recruited nationally because of the attractiveness of living in Miami, but it's also extremely expensive and crazy down there. Would be tough for a college kid to live on stipend and enjoy what living in Miami has to offer without comitting violations.

I just don't know what coach FIU could get to build that program up.

Agree, it is not a good fire at all, and at a really weird time. Listen, I realize they went 3-9 this year, but they were DECIMATED with injuries. Cristobal is a good coach, and was getting a look just last year at some major programs. Maybe, moving conferences they figured they needed to make a big splash.

However, if they don't get Butch Davis (which, on his end makes no sense unless he just REALLY misses Miami) it's not going to be a good time for the Panthers any time soon.

I'll coach em for $700K and another $100K incentive for every win.

I led my NCAA football dynasty to 7 national championships in 13 seasons once. Had an 86 game win streak at one point. I'm also a top notch recruiter in the game and I religiously redshirt my players and process the weak links and upper-classmen that don't progress.

I wonder if Bret Hog is going to go after Cristobal?

If FIU hires Butch then the NCAA may just need to relocate to South Beach, they'll be spending all their time investigating them and The U.

Meanwhile up in Boca Raton FAU can claim the title of the cleanest program in South Florida. We'll still suck most years but we'll be too busy saving dolphins and manatees to care.

Looking at doing my MBA there. If I remain poor I guess I'm stuck at Arkansas.

From what I've heard the Walton School of Business is no slouch (granted, most of those comments have come from the always delusional UPig fanbase).

The AD and Butch Davis are friends, thus his firing.

He should be going after him and Mike Norvell at Arizona St. There's your OL and OC and strong recruiters right there.

Ahh, didn't see that. Who is it? I remember the cut loose Bostad's replacement early, who was Chryst's replacement?

I would be very surprised. If recruiting is the reason to bring Markuson, then keep Klenakis as recruiting coordinator. Klenakis has done really well as an opener and to get high profile kids from coast to coast interested in us.

Markuson was fired by Bielema 2 weeks into the season, why would he want to work with him again? Even at Arky. Cristobal is an ace recruiter and has ties to South Florida.

Throw a boatload of money at Norvell and put him back to being a position coach (it's only his first year as an OC anyway) and there is your Arkansas recruiting liason.

FIU was a go-to school for my dynasty as well.

I loved it after a few national titles, the fans could still sit in the grass next to the stadium to watch the games.

Mississippi Tech.

Located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where one of the Big 3 should have been all along.
