I hear it all the time."I use regular filet knife so as to not waste anything".

Well,I'm sorry but when I have to blast through 50 trout I don't really care if I waste a whole 3 filets worth of meat in the end. I just want to get it done.

Are any of you guys the same way? How about when cleaning game? Is there a wasteful way of cleaning game but also much quicker?

If you clean a lot of fish, theres no reason to not be both. If you suck when going fast, slow down and do it right until you get quicker. Its not that hard really.

Yea

I'm pretty slow at it, but the old man flies through them and still does a better job than me

I burn through them at the expense of a filet or two. I'm not starving and my freezer is filled up so I'm not going to even notice.

One thing that chaps my arse is when people only quarter a deer and get the backstrap. There's plenty of meat on the ribs and especially the neck, plus tenderloins inside the rib cages. Seems like a waste to me.

I chunk the ribs usually.

Throwing a neck away will get you shot though

If the ribs are messed up, I'll toss them too. But if not, they are going on the BBQ pit.

I tried that once and it was like eating the top of a work boot. I only keep em for ground meat now, which I don't make much of.

I usually try and be thourough with fish.

Deer I usually quarter, backstrap, and tenderloin. If there is a big neck ill take it and give it away. If a shoulder has any damage to it ill toss it

You have to boil them before you grill em. Boil them until the bones get loose. Then slap em on the grill and put some sauce on them.

You are missing out on the best part. Have your wife spend the whole day cooking that thing in a dutch oven with some onions. Then you cook some rice. Then you go sit in the recliner drinking a beer and burping while she washes the dishes.

Same, minus the tenderloins for deer..

Every other animal I clean, its thorough. I do like to try and go quickly on an abundance of trout or catfish, but if I'm messing up, I'll slow down.

That is litterally the absolute best part of the entire deer.

I don't go out enough to make consistent bragging threads. Yes this thread was a subtle brag thread.

I normally try and take my time, the exception is geese. Knowing im cleaning 300 by myself means I don't have time to be patient.

My favorite part is a ham roast. then back strap, then shoulder roast.
