Couldn't have ever gotten too serious since Miles got less money than the purported offer and only a "routine" extension of his contract with LSU of 2 additional years.
So you believe a raise would have been made yesterday without the Arkansas crap?
I am not saying he wouldn't have recieved a raise but I think it would have been after the bowl game. Alleva/LSU is saving face by saying he was getting a raise IMO. Didn't want to look like they were pressured into doing so.

Please provide proof. You assume Miles' agent contacted Arkansas. And you know this because...? On the other hand, we do know that Long and Miles are longtime friends snd Arkansas is looking. We also know, at least based on what has been reported, that Miles's contract is in line with what would have resulted from ongoing discussions with LSU regardless. So there really isn't any basis for your speculation and accusation. Who knows, you might be right, but as of now, there is absolutelynno reason to think so.

I'm on record as being ok with the raise but I definitely agree with this. There might have been preliminary raise talks but I think Alleva hopped to when it came to this Arkansas talk and immediately gave the raise.

exactly...therefore you have no idea what was or wasn't said. maybe Miles did ask for secrecy. but yet again...y'all just assume its Miles fault.
Miles got a job offer
The AD was a friend so he had a talk with him to tell him he wasn't interested.
Alleva figured they might as well move up the raise and extension.
These are facts. I don't see anything wrong with any of it. All the rest of y'alls bullshite is just that....bullshite

if you can provide proof otherwise besides making baseless accusations i'm all ears.

I have no problem with the actual raise...just the way it went down. I blame the agent though not Miles.

LSU should tell Miles if this happens again, they will fire him on the spot and bring someone else in to coach LSU.
I agree with this. DP is actually correct on this one

The announcement and the negotiations were sped up, which makes sense once rumors started spreading. But the outcome is the same. Do you really think LSU would not have given a raise to a coach who hadn't had a raise since 2007, and in the meantime won an SEC championship and got his team to the BCSCG?

I am not assuming crap....regardless of who began the talk..
Miles could have insisted in non-disclosure agreement -it is a LEGAL and BINDING concept...he chose to not do so.
It is what it is ...lack of professionalism

he made this play w/Michigan, the only diff is (if I understand it right) his contract gives him that right...
the TIMING of that was also very unprofessional.
Coaches with character do not disclose this items while still in the BOWL PICTURE...end of story.

This. Miles never considered leaving and should have told Arkansas that, he most likely did, no problem there. But then he used them to get a raise from LSU. You should only get a raise for winning a BCSNC or SEC. Yes he one the SEC last year but I think he lost that raise with that BCS proformance. Coudld LSU give him a pay cut when he has a down year? Alleva should have called his bluff.

No. My problem isn't the raise its the circumstances and appearance of how it went down. But I am over it It's a new day.

like i said. you have no idea what happened. news leaks all the time. and in the grand scheme...its not even a big deal that it leaked. it was over in 2 days. but i guess we have to find something to blame on Miles, right? no matter how baseless the claim is.

And to what end. Most likely there was at least an informal understanding, but these agreements aren't worth the paper they are written on. Do you know who leaked the info? And what damages could you prove? Sorry, but the idea of a nondisclosure contract in these circumstances is just silly.
