Understandable. It's setting a terrible precedent for the other kid that he can be as reckless and he wants with very little consequences. He fricked up and deserves to pay for it while your son suffers.

Talk to your kid, the coach, the AD, the principal, and the LHSAA, in that order.
Last thing you want to happen is for this to bite your kid in the ass. Actually, the last thing you want is for nothing to happen.
But tell the coach he's either going to talk to the AD about it, or you will.

Late on this, but would definitly talk to your son and see how he feels about it...how he reacts should be the bearing on how you confront the coach...if he is indifferent than I would talk to the coach and kindly explain that he is an ass...if he is upset about it, go all the way with it
ETA: I had a friend in college who had a douche coach in high school and he and his parents decided that he would only play club soccer and not for his school, maybe an option if the douchebaggery continues

I googled to find out who the coach was but I don't know him. But I would definitely go to the AD or principal.
