You tried to drain it?

Meh, vet ain't going to do much. Charge $50 and give some anti-biotics. May or may not lance it.

It is your dog, do what you want to, but if it is money you are worried about I just talked to the office mgr at Dr. Breaux's office, $25 office visit and $35 to drain a cyst (if that is what it is), at least spend the 25 to find out

Dogs bleed forever. I had a blue heeler with a crankbait in her ear (different story for a different thread) and once I cut it out she bled for a week. Didn't die though. I think she liked me more after I got to her with the dikes than she did prior.
If you need help I can come hold/lance that thing tomorrow. I'm good at cutting on critters.

you sure it isnt a mast cell tumor?
Posted on 11/27/12 at 9:48 pm to DownshiftAndFloorIt
Had a boxer 4-1/2 yrs old that overnight had a lump like that come up. Turned out to be a tumor. Lymphoma something or other. Put her on steriods for about a month and a half, until she couldn't eat anymore and had to put her down. Take her to the vet, it won't cost much to find out if it's something serious.
Is it near its gland(s) under its jaws?

Dog eats bleed like nothing I've ever seen. I'm still finding spots of old blood from where my dog cut his ear. His latest injury was a large amount of subcutaneous air around his head and neck. Probably from a snake bite.

damn, that is kind of strange....

It was really strange. Wife said he was running around playing, took off to the woods for a while, came back and just laid there until I got home and noticed the swelling and rice crispie feel of his skin. Swelling went down the next day, he still has a little crackle around his jaw. It was a warm day and he came back wet so I figured he got on a snake down by the pond.

Seriously, if you don't do something with that dog, you should be prevented from owning dogs in the future.
I understand dogs lived differently in the past, but so did humans. We don't walk around saying that humans should be relegated to past available treatments.
You're a humongous piece of shite if you don't either take the dog in or give the dog away to someone who will.

The dog is in zero pain. I promise you I am quite competent at raising and owning dogs.
At the end of the day, it's a dog and not a kid.
