It's big and hard. Feels like a big puss ball or something. If you made it perfectly round it would be as big as a softball.

Should I poke it with a needle or not?

If your dog has a softball size growth on neck you probably want to see a vet. If you had this on your neck would you want your dog sticking it with a needle?

I think this warrants a trip to the vet...

No I wouldn't, but since it's on her neck and not mine, I'm thinking about poking it and seeing what comes out. Doesn't seem to be bothering her much.

I would do it. I've done it to a cow before.

Hell no. She's a deer finding machine.

BarD, I've done it on cows a few times too. I'm just torn between if I should drain it or see if it'll take care of itself.

Bring it to the vet, just had a tumor removed fom my lab, was just under her skin and not bothering her at all, came back as stage III soft tissue carcinoma.

This thing went from nothing to it's current size in 2 days. I'm pretty certain it isn't cancerous. It feels like a cysts, it's just really really big.

I honestly haven't tried to drain it yet because I will probably puke from the smell.

Could be anything , a sebaceous cyst is what you are hoping for, but a mast cell tumor can grow rapidly, go to vet an ask for a fine needle aspiration.

Sorry man. I'm a broke arse college kid and I grew up a farm hand. "Bring it to the vet" is almost never an option.

I wouldn't be able to bring her till tomorrow anyway.

casty away

Thought it was a snake bite at first, but it's a different kind of swelling than a snake bite.

I figured a dog man like yourself would have popped one of these things before

I guess I should've popped it right when I first noticed it and it was about as big as a gumball.

Not sure if LA 200 is safe for dogs either, and that's the only anti biotic stuff I have laying around.
