worse than that.... very serious offense...

Just yell "It's coming right at me! My life is in danger!" real loud before you shoot it.

Oh, and I've seen more tempers flair on the golf course and on the water than in any hunting situation.

Generally, people are much nicer to each other when they are both carrying guns.

I remember hearing about a fisherman who was shot out of the seat of his bass boat on Pearl River WMA by a fellow who thought the fisherman was a hog. Figure out THAT one!

Oh, and I've heard morons brag about their "brush shots." Those guys really scare me, particularly now the private property by our camp is full of Yatpassers.

Very tragic story. 12 years ago my brother was accidentally killed by his 12 year old son on deer hunt. Son tried one of those brush shots just when my brother was coming threw brush to get son off of stand.Happened in Jefferson, Texas.

the one I remember was a kid paddling in a canoe on the bogue chitto river NWR.. northern pearl area.. wearing black..

I remember many many years ago.. in college getting conned into going to either sex hunt there... went to security in metairie.. night before saw 4 guys buying rifles there... had no clue what they were doing.. couldn't even load them..

they were in line checking in ahead of us the next morning.....

I hate to hear stories like this, though they happen all too often. Tragedy seems like too small of a word for such things.

Terrible to hear. I know folks take "brush shots" but it amazes me that they do.

I can't believe "it" happens enough such that these "brush shots" have name.

Forkola!

Man, that's like the very first thing my dad taught me.

Just this year in the teal season on a WMA I had a bit of trouble. Got out there and had set up. 15 mims before shooting time, 2 guys come up and tell me that I'm in there spot. WTF? Told them if they wanted to hunt with me being that I was by myself, no problem, but they wanted me to move. My reply, frick OFF! This is a WMA and nobody has a spot other then first come first serve.

Some people are just assholes and these two guys were.

I've know two people killed in hunting accidents, and both were killed by family members.

My middle school baseball coach had a family member that pretty much blew his ding a ling off with a shotgun... He was squirrel hunting and chased some other kind of critter up in an old dead log... He was using the butt end of his 20 gauge to spook it and run it out the other side when it went off... Luckily (If one can use that word) he was hunting with bird shot so it took off his beans and left some of the frank... Somehow he got himself to a hospital before he went into shock and would've bled out.. Fella was fortunate not to lose his life along with his manhood.

earlier this year i was driving around looking for the little alabama boat launch (first time to launch there) and i drove out of the woods in front of the first camps, apparently too fast, on the south side of big alabama. some dude on a riding lawn mower at one of the camps launches a 40oz beer at my truck. i hit the brakes so the beer flies in front of me, and the dude runs up to the side of the truck, beating on my front drivers window hard like he's trying to break it and generally coming unglued, screaming and shite. i would've apologized to be honest bc that's how i am, but the dude had was throwing a tantrum and i wanted no part of it, so i told him to frick off through the window and drove off.

i do drive slower there now, though.

This season I've been tempted to sink boats. We have a blind built in the middle of a cove on a public lake. 2nd day of the season I pulled up and put my mojo out and could hear people talking. Shooting time came up and I was getting peppered from 3 different directions, I was surrounded.

Took one shot that morning everything else was sky busted or flared out of the cove. Has me seriously leaning towards a lease next season.
