I think too many people get caught up in thinking that it's always in a players best interest to come back to work his way up from being a middle round pick to a POSSIBLE 1st round pick.

It of course would be in OUR best interest if Mett comes back next year, especially considering his spotty performance this year. Pro scouts however, can be easily swayed by a players potential instead of his actual production. I've already seen some projections that have him in the top 5 qb's for the 2014 draft. DO you really think the pro's believe that playing one more year of college football prepares you quicker for the pro game? 4 preseason games will make you a better pro than 3 years of playing college games. The only real value playing football in college has for a future pro is it helps pro scouts make their evaluations.

How much has Tyler Wilson helped himself by coming back this year? Jevan Snead anyone? If it is your goal to be a professional football player, then you should go do it as soon as you can. If he was my son that is what I would tell him.

Also remember that Mett didn't grow up dreaming of playing for LSU, he was a bulldog all the way and only circumstances lead him here. I don't know the kid but given the situation I wouldn't think he has some overwhelming affinity for staying at LSU over starting to live out his dream of playing in the NFL.

Dude, you need to watch some of the throws this kid makes. He is Jamarcus Russell good. He has had the best 2 games of any LSU quarterback back to back since Rohan davey. The kid throws a picture perfect back shoulder fade. I promise you pro teams are slobbering over this guy right now. He's hitting play action, roll outs, and damn near a side arm dart that I have NEVER seen before. The kid is the real deal, and he has taken some time to adjust, but he will finally be the pro qb that the LSU brand needs to produce to become a QB factory. If you arnt pumped, you should be.

No he hasnt. Jmarc had over 6k yds and over 50 tds in his career. STFU

With you LSURussian, I am absolutely 100 per cent that Mett will return for his senior year. No way he can turn pro this year. He's just now really beginning to live up to the billing that we all expected rightly or wrongly.

Eh, it's a mixed bag man. Many factors go into it. Mett will be back.

Mett will redeem LSU qb's in the pros for Jamarcus failure.

If he was my kid and was given a 3rd or 4th round draft grade

You realize 3rd rounders are about 50-50 to even make the roster and don't get a guaranteed deal? That would be horrid advice, even if you were right about he grade, which you aren't.

If Mett is drafted by an NFL GM after this season then the GM should be fired immediately by the team.

Maybe he will, but it will be when his eligibility runs out.

Jamarcus had 8 4th quarter comebacks. The dude was really good. Mett cant even touch him in LSU lore at this point.

He also passed for at least 200 yds in every game in 2006. He had prob one of the most impressive 7 game stretches from an lsu qb. It propelled him the the #1 pick in the draft.
